About Me:
I'm a 21-year old transsexual fangirl from Anchorage, AK. I write scripts for comics and films in my free time, and my lifetime goal is to be a major writer for D.C. I can not draw at all. My favorite comics are Supergirl, Fables, Amelia Rules, Betty and Veronica, Green Lantern, Spider-Man loves Mary Jane, and Scott Pilgrim. I have every issue of the current Supergirl and Spider-Girl runs, as well as every issue of Superman/Batman. I have my own Sonic Screwdriver and Green Lantern Corps power ring and Power Battery.

I try to avoid all use of profanity, not because I think it's rude or immoral, but just immature to swear every other word. I do not want to join your group or add you to my friend's list. This is not MySpace. At least send me a comment first to make sure I might be interested in it. If you ignore this rule, you will not be on my friend's list.

In the incredibly unlikely chance that such a journey would be undertaken, I will handle the party organization for the Alaska Spill party. Spill Party #112, Yeah!

NatM: Battle of the Smithsonian: That other big, dumb overblown movie this week.

Why is this movie coming out this week? It's going to do so so badly, even if it was the greatest film of the year. This type of movie is Christmas release straight and away. Some marketing bozo had to have lost their job over that decision.

Let me start off the bat by saying, this is not a great movie. This is big, dumb, and so full of plotholes you could print the script on swiss chesse. That being said, as was the case with the first one, I loved the heck out of it.

This is the most fun mov… Continue

Star Trek....More like SUCK Trek

Seriously, I don’t know what movie the entire world was seeing, but this was bar none one of the worst movies in a while. I mean this was horrible in every way possible. Calling in the director of such overblown nonsense as “Cloverfield” and that perennial bomb “Lost” to replace creative geniuses like Rick Berman and Brannon Braga seriously had to have come about as a result of producers doing far too much cocaine.

This movie was in no way worthy of being called Star Trek. Star Trek is a show a… Continue

Hannah Montana the Movie: A Second Opinion

So someone's got to defend the movie, and can you think of anyone better?

First let me explain a couple of things that you might be confused on if you heard the main crew's review. Yes, Brooke Shields was Miley's mother in the movie. This was not mentioned in the movie because it was just a carryover form the show, where Brooke Shields did a couple of episodes. They had to mention a couple of things to make it a continuation of the show. This was also the reason behind the exploding birthday ca… Continue

Why the CNN blurb is not good.

One Word: Integrity.

For most journalists, this involves fact verifying and in most cases naming of sources. It's a key ethical debate for any student of journalism. Journalists of any type are viewed, on the whole, in a less favorable light than prostitutes. That's just the way it is, for good journalists, so when integrity is damaged, how low do you think a journalist's image gets.

I know Carlyle has said he doesn't like to refer to this field as journalism, but it is. It's highly focused, b… Continue

The Pink Triangle in Comics: Nine Gay Comic Icons

With the untimely demise of the Dark Knight, the pages of Detective Comics are being put in the trust of Batwoman, a large milestone has been set as the first starring gay superhero. Of course anyone who actually reads comics knows that she is no more the first gay character than the Ultimate Nicky Fury was the first black character. But these other characters for one reason or another have fallen out of consciousness of many readers. But not today. Today I bring you the top nine gay characters… Continue

Hi
Nice pic profile but so somber. You are lovely. I enjoy reading your blogs, they are insightful, intelligent and have a delightful "sharp" style.

Be well. Bye bye.

Ah, I like it. That makes a lot of sense. Boys are quite a pain. I know, I am one. What's your next blog going to be about do you mind me asking? Or will I have to wait and see?

NGA? I've never heard that phrase before. But yeah I can understand it being a point of annoyance for a lot of feminists. I'm in college at the moment, well, I just finished, but for the last semester I've been doing a course called 'Reading Gender and Sexuality' in English. So I'm in that mode of thought and analysis at the moment. I was considering doing the blog about female heroines in general and how even though they are generally strong characters they end up falling into male traditional representations in the end. I thought about that and realised that I really couldn't garner enough evidence to support that idea, so my mind gravitated towards the Disney heroines, and thus the Princesses.

Thanks for the comment and debate on my Disney Princesses blog. I really appreciate it. Like I said in the comments, you always provide something interesting to think about when you comment so thanks.

Yeah I can totally picture, like, the 20th Centruy League going off on some mission, and just some random person in the background walking into the platform at 9 3/4. Like the Wizarding world is still around and kicking, it's just so well protected and hidden that it's like they don't even interact with our world...

BUT IT'S THERE! :)

Hey MileyZorEl;

I saw your question in the League Lounge, and thought it was great! This is something I had thought about myself, long before they announced “LOEG: Century” which will take place in various parts of the 20th century. I dreamed up pretty damn good modern-day league.

I wanted to share this with you, but didn’t want to clutter up the thread on the League Lounge. So I figured I’d send it right to you.

(Actually this is a slightly modified version of my original team, which DID include a couple movie/television characters... being that the Almanac in LOEG Vol.2 made allusions to “Twin Peaks”, “The Big Lebowski”, and “Doctor Who” but sticking to your rules I’ll just do the characters from novels)

(Also, this list was before it was made clear in “the black dossier” that Mina and Quartermain could live much longer lifespans...)

LOEG of the 1990-2000’s. Working in the same idea that the line separating “villains” and “heroes” is very much blurred. My team (minus Mina, Quartermain, and the TV and movie characters)

- Alan Grant & Ellie Sattler (from Jurassic Park)
- Arthur Dent (provided that this League Story take place in-between “So long and thanks for all the Fish” and “Mostly Harmless”)
- Jack/Tyler Durden (either as an ally, or an enemy, he’s too interesting a character to NOT use)
- Jack Ryan (from the Tom Clancy books, hip-deep in CIA and international secrets, figured he’d be the leader of the group)
- Hannibal Lector (much like how they tolerated Edward Hyde’s horrible behavior, they might also be able to coax Lector into working with them, at least for a time)
- One or all of the “Witches of Eastwick” (get some real magic stuff in here)
- Any of the characters from Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods”. Shadow, Mr. Nancy, Cernobog/Bielbog the Zorya sisters, Eostre... having an actual God on the team would really be something.)

Notes:
- I wanted to reverse-reference things that would lead up to “Blade Runner” (like how Moore had “Campion Bond” who was an ancestor of James Bond...) maybe
- I considered to also enlist the main character from Carl Sagan’s “Contact” but then realized I’ve only seen the film, and haven’t read the book. I don’t know if there are differences between the film and book, so I decided to leave that book alone.
- Harry Potter universe is rich with cool characters, but it’s pretty entrenched in it’s own mythology. No doubt the wizarding world would be referenced in a modern-day League story, but I don’t think there’d be a person on the 1990-2000 League who would be from the HP series.
