A Look at X-Men: Days Of Future Past and What To Expect

X-Men Days of Future Past is probably one of the best and most influential time travel stories ever created.  So much so that it has been revisited, tribute and ripped off too many times to count.  It’s probably the second most famous X-Men story ever written, (right after the Dark Phoenix Saga,) and comes as no…See More

The Avengers - An In Depth Review

WARNING: This review contains MAJOR spoilers It’s good.  It’s really good.  It is probably the best crossover in cinema history.  It’s also kind of by the numbers.  Never did I feel a sense of dread or emotional attachment for any of the characters in the movie.  Never did any of the actors ever get a chance to show their range. …See More

13 Rules to Follow When Watching Movie Adaptations

Everyone, stop. Just stop talking about how much better the book is than the movies.  Nine times out of ten, maybe more, the book will be better.  We get it.  But books are of a medium that is completely different from movies.  Come to think of it, movies are different than television shows.  Why?  Because films don’t have the luxury of time on their side.  Modern films have a maximum total of just over three hours to compress what may take days to finish from their actual material.  As a…See More

Why The Newest Harry Potter Film Is The Worst One!

This Article is Spoiler Free (for the latest movie at least.) There is no nice way to put this.  I did not like this movie.  It’s not a bad movie.  I’m not saying avoid this movie.  But to me, this movie was on part with Star Wars: Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. WHAT?!  You can’t say that about Harry Potter!Well I just did. When long lasting series have a planned cinematic ending, this type of shit usually goes down.  Too many sub-plots and character arcs need a conclusion, so the film rushes…See More

Green Lantern: What Went Wrong

To start this article off, I think I should admit my bias, I’m a Green Lantern fan.  I’m not a fanatic.  I recognize that there needs to be major changes from the source material when adapting it to film.  The question is, will those changes help or hinder the character’s appeal to a mass audience? First off, the film is horribly edited. …See More

Are Television Shows Replacing Books?

“If you want to get ahead in this life, read books.” At least that’s what my parents used to tell me.  “Don’t watch TV, there is nothing but garbage on it.” was another saying my parents often repeated. However, I mainly grew up in the 90’s, and television was harder to follow back then.  We didn’t have collections of television…See More

Review of When Captain Kirk Met Lucifer

To all those who hate it when the title gives away the twist, sorry. But I couldn't resist, and chances are this title is the best way to get you to watch this video.I thought that with the LEOG's podcast about the Devil this week, that some of you might get a kick out of this.   Back in the early 1970's, the cast of the original Star Trek reunited to continue their characters' adventures in cartoon form.  The problem is that no one remembers this show.  I was going through a few old episodes…See More

Is it Time to Reconsider Copyright?

If the concept of the library was created today, it would probably be illegal.  Libraries were invented in ancient times to copy and store information for scientists and philosophers to use.  Visiting scholars would visit other cities, copy scrolls of interest and back to their city where the process would be repeated. Today, if such an action was taken, the owner of the scroll being copied would be brought to court and charged for spreading that information.  Thankfully, libraries are an…See More

Haha, well I mean I have a job, this I do mostly because I have fun doing it. I mean I got a small radio show doing it so can't be too bad. It's harder to get people to keep coming back especially when you're just posting stuff on certain blogs, but once you get the 10-20-30 people who are intrested enough it's already good for something, it shows what you have to say is actually interesting to someone, someone values your opinion.

The problem of course, is for writing, which I still do, but not as much, mostly because no one enjoys sitting down to read a lengthy article, especially if it's not by a main contributor or a less important person. That is why I do podcasts, despite them being a bitch to put together. I feel like audio is something you may have in your periphery, tune in and out during stuff you're interested to hear about, same as I do with the Spill podcasts, throw them on while I'm playing CoD or something... Can't do it when I'm writing a script or editing a short clip because that just distracts me, but for entertainment value it works. Even at work, when I'm sorting through deliveries downstairs I have it on my iPod... One thing I can say is don't give up dude, and if you're ever down to collaborate shoot me a word cause there is pretty much fuck all else to do in Ottawa, I'm waiting to shoot my short when I move back to Toronto so this will be my sole endeavor on the side...

Definitely are, I started a few such endeavors in the past, but never committed enough to make it consistent. Going to try this one more time... It becomes easier to justify the time commitment if you get some sort of response, even one or two people, so it doesn't feel like you're just rumbling to yourself... :P... From what I've seen on Spill though, that shouldn't be too much of a problem...

I try, I try.... But yeah, the series had its ups and downs, I'm throwing up a podcast that will kind of brush against that comment either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how long it takes me to record and edit...

Strangely enough, I met my buddy at Paramount because he was a Paladin MT (and class leader) in my old World of Warcraft guild, and I was an OT. We played for over a year before I found out what he did for a living. As a strange tidbit, before I started working here, he was trying to get me a job in the DVD department over at Paramount, but it fell through because the economy went into the sh**ter, and they had to lay off a ton of their employees. As for some of the other guys I know, I went to art school for 3D animation and I kinda make friends with everyone so a lot of those guys found their way into the film industry in different companies and positions. I know a few guys at Pixar, one at Dreamworks, one of the concept artists for Lucasarts, etc.

I guess long story short - it pays to make a lot of friends and go to a prestigious school.
