Relating to your question about the hulk At least in terms of the avengers movies the general rule is that If banner transforms willingly he has some subconscious control of the hulk but if he transforms from either losing it or severe traumatization he will not be able to control it and just start smashing everyone and everything friend or foe. he was just refering to the hulk as the other guy to distance himself from him, I would to if I transformed into a green killing machine In the incredible hulk they say the hulk is still banner just with his brain shot into overdrive.
