Hey! I haven't posted in a long time, so I figured I'd start up again by talking about my favorite movie thus far in 2009, Star Trek. Amazing! I have only watched The New Gneration, so I wasn't privy to many of the references to the original series…

About Me:
I'm a college sophomore. I'm majoring in English-- I enjoy reading and writing short stories and poems. I really want to learn how to play the guitar. I used to play a bunch of sports growing up and in high school and I like to be active but lately I've opted for the bum routine. I love animals- dogs are my favorite. One of my dreams is to open a dog kennel in my home and do that all day once I'm retired. I'd enjoy living in the country- no suburbs for me though. I hope this all comes true and I don't end up just an average sorta-happy suburb-dweller...although I doubt that'll happen.
All Time Favorite Movies:
Lars and the Real Girl, The Princess Bride, Juno, 3:10 to Yuma, When Harry Met Sally, The Departed, Man on Fire, Young Guns, Young Frankenstein, Pan's Labyrinth, Stranger Than Fiction, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, My Fair Lady, The King and I, Edward Scissor Hands, The Nightmare Before Christmas.
All Time Worst Movies:
Hangman, Battleship Earth...Oh my goodness, these are sooo terrible! Don't rent, don't buy, if someone comes up to you and gives you one of these as a gift DON'T TAKE IT, just run away, I promise you, you will be so much better off.
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
Edward Norton, Johnny Depp, Sean Connery, Ryan Gosling. Seth Rogen is getting up there.

As for actresses, I love Laura Linney, Sandra Oh and Selma Hayeck (spelling?) Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts are great too.
Favorite Directors:
Guillermo del Toro, Rob Reiner, Craig Gillespie (maybe), Richard Donner

Star Trek

Hey!

I haven't posted in a long time, so I figured I'd start up again by talking about my favorite movie thus far in 2009, Star Trek. Amazing! I have only watched The New Gneration, so I wasn't privy to many of the references to the original series, like Bones saying "Damnit man, I'm a doctor!" I only know that one since I went with my bf and his sister who grew up watching the series. We went twice. I never go out to movies twice. It was just so much fun.

People have been compar… Continue

My new favorite movie

Lars and the Real Girl. Holy crap, such a good movie.

And for me this movie represents the new kind of movie that has become my favorite- it's hard to categorize...another example of this type of movie would be Juno.

The characters in these kinds of movies have relationships that are very unique but somehow, easy to relate to.

For example, for those of you who've seen Juno do you know any family, or any town for that matter, that is remotely like the one portrayed in the film? Maybe it's a Mi… Continue

Just a statement to be disputed.

I think my absolute favorite part about a movie is the soundtrack...or at least critiquing the soundtrack.

What do ya'll think is the best part of a movie (to fight over)?

Amazing Westerns

I just watched 3:10 to Yuma- one of the best westerns I have ever seen. I'm usually not too big of a fan of westerns- my fav is The Big Country starring Gregory Peck which is mostly about the clashing cultures of the Eastern and Western U.S.
(Retired, wealthy sea Captain Jame McKay (Gregory Peck) arrives in the vast expanse of the West to marry fiancée Pat Terrill (Carroll Baker). McKay is a man whose values & approach to life are a mystery to the ranchers & ranch foreman Steve Leech (Ch… Continue

Books turned into movies

OK so I am an avid reader and movie goer. And there is nothing I despise more than a bad movie remake of a perfectly good book. I'll give you an example (now boys, I know most of ya'll prolly didn't read this series but bear with me); the traveling pants series. Now, I must admit that when the first book came out, I started reading it and I finished it in one night- just stayed up from 6 pm to 7 am and I was absolutely enthralled with it. So, even though I didn't expect much from the film, I sti… Continue

Cool. All those are good. I want to hear what you thought of Charlie Wilson's War (which I thought was one of the best films of last year)

Well Meg, aside from the big disgusting burger I had for lunch that even now is making my insides stage a massive revolution, I'm pretty good I guess. What's the scoop in your dimension?
