Yeah if it had been a little less manic and dumb in places I mean he pissed in a car!!!
I might have enjoyed it more but never mind i wasn't expecting much in the first place.
;)
;(
BButton was masterful and so well done people just presume its makeup on a real actor! plus Jim Cameron pimps his technology to the max and makes more whizz bang spectacle movies but Benjamin Button Blew me away!
;)
5) King of the World... is my worst dialog from a JC movie. But again, I wasn't expecting William Shakespeare level of writing.
6) It just puts their good movies into perspective.
That is true, it does. But, again Avatar itself isn't a HORRIBLE film. Will it be Cameron's "All time Best movie"? Of course not, that will either be T1 or Aliens. But at the same time, it's NOT a bad movie either. It's not something like a Friedberg/Seltzer movie, or even a Wayne's movie. And let's be fair about it, at least James Cameron's level of production values has stayed consistent enough that he's done a better job over the years than Lucas or M.Night, or a lot of OTHER directors.
Avatar, might not be a "Great Film", and I will agree to that one. And I will agree that it wasn't what you were expecting (or hopeful for) either. But it wasn't a "Bad" movie, or even an "Average" movie. The movie was at worst a "better-than-average" film, even if you lowered the CGI effects, which where the "industry changing" ones that everyone wanted to promote before the movie was in theaters.
2) And to me, Avatar is Cameron returning to what he was prior to Titanic. If anything, Titanic is much worse than Avatar with script and writing. I mean, really... you take the world's most famous ship sinking and had over an hour of a love-story that was not needed to make the movie about the World's most famous ship sinking? What the hell? As far as T2 goes? Well, honestly I find it almost on the same level as Avatar (Yes, I know I should bite my own tongue for saying that.... but wait). Look at T2 again. Is it really all that "Good"? Not really, it has a bunch of flaws and logical gaps that are there. But yet, it's still highly enjoyable to watch on a "basic movie" level that Avatar is. Which one of those two is "better"? Well, clearly T2 is a "better" film, but even T2 isn't nearly as good (or well made) as T1.
3) I don't see it as being "Corny" at all. In fact, it's production values are so high from first to last frame that "Corny" couldn't be considered as a description of the film. As far as the "cheesy dialog". I agree that some parts WERE cheesy. But I didn't expect William Shakespeare level scripting going into the theater, so I was willing to accept the few scenes where it happened, and most of those were from one character. Again, the Environmental themes have been in Cameron's movies since the time of Abyss if you look for them, so no surprise there either.
