AMC Series: The Prisoner. Or 'Where the F did this come from and Why

The Prisoner:

Where the fuck did this come from? It debuted tonight on AMC. It is a remake of the popular cult classic from Great Britain in the 60’s that stared the late Patrick McGoohan (hope I spelled that right). The new show stars Jim Caviezel ( Christ himself) a damn good but not often seen actor and the great Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto, Gandalf). Well now we know how Sir Ian is spending his time. In an interview to plug this show, Caviezel was complaining how it was hard to find good part… Continue

JUST WHAT THE HELL DO WE WANT TO SEE ANYWAY?

Ok children, I have a question for all of us: Just what The Hell do we want to see made into a movie? What do we want to spend our hard earned $$ on over the next few years. Grandpa Cranky here has been hanging with you all for about a year. There are a lot of opinionated people, male and female hanging out. You freely (sometime a bit too freely) toss out opinions. We scream there are no fresh ideas.

So, I am throwning down the guantlet. It is the end of the Year and while there are a few prese… Continue

For the record, I know a few things about this game. I have 2 sons, 32 and 20 who love the game. They are on (my) computer 24/7 if given a chance. They have multiple avatars, go on raids, belong to guilds argue and trade goods with others using VOIP. In short, they don't have much of a life. But hey, they don't drink, do drugs o… Continue

Cameron's AVATAR

FIrst: M. Knight needs to change the name of his movie real fast. I saw the 15 minute preview sample in 3D IMAX. This film will be huge. Remember all the hype followed by the letdown with Watchmen? Well this will be a lot more hype, but I don't think the let down will be there. This film segments I saw (twice) were mind blowing. AS long as he does not get to heavy handed with the whole "one with Nature" message (as well as a couple of others that come sneaking through in the preview) This movie… Continue

Yep, I can’t wait to see AVATAR in IMAX, that’s really nice you have 3 IMAN theaters with in 20 minutes from you, I have to drive 2 hours to get to the nearest IMAX theater, but I don’t mind going on a little journey to see AVATAR. I’m happy to hear that the 20 minutes of footage was awe inspiring, that’s what I want to hear.

Thanks for the kind comment you left on my blog, I didn't know that about James Arness. I mean I knew he played the thing but didn't know he played the Sherrif in the tv show Gunsmoke. I loved Mothra I own it on dvd, but I've never heard of Caltiki I'll try to netflix it and check it out. once again thanks.

Yeah I'd go along with what U said about there being no rhyme or reason for the war. But I should ask, it was a big reason for us finding and killing Sadam? But does seem to be an unjustice war which isn't really right for the men and woman who serve as good and hard a job as they do.

I'm a Man U btw... lol. The Red Devils. There not doing too well at the moment. Lost to Chelsea last night =<

Dude, you just need to go into the group and U can listen to all six podcasts, we keep em all. lol

I think Al and Bob are a given. => Both men are comanders of the big screen. Even if they have slowed down big time there last team outing was a disaster.. lol

Ugh. I'm all over the place with my music on Spill. Apart from the fact it takes ages to download (if at all) I'm all over the place on what I want in, altgough right now it's The Revolting Cocks and Primus. Might I suggest U go for a music player U can find a site where U sign up for free and then U can search for songs and ad them to list. From there U can embed the player and bring it to yer Spill player. If U need more deatails on that let me know.

Thanks for joining the group. A podcast is pretty much internet radio man.. Just folks doing shows on thier fave topics and they talk about it. On Spill U have Spill Crew ones like A Couple of Cold Ones. Lets Do This and League Of Extraordaniry Gentleman. I'd advise you give ACOCO a listen. Not as lon as the others and they are just pruely about films. LDT is more off topic and LEOG is comics.

Mines and BDiddy's is like ACOCO. We talk about the TV and movie stories of the week. But we are quite long. Last one was two hours thirty mins. lol

Thanks. My hospital appointment is just a routine blood check up as I'am on blood thinners for life. But given that I'm kind of unwell and I had a flu jab two weeks back. Just wondering how it will .

I haven't seen that film no. I hear it's good. Man. That must be nerve wracking about your son -in-law. No dubt your proud of him. But still. What are your thoughts on the war overal?

Those are all good picks, Matt Damon for sure. he really surpised me with the Bourne films.

I haven't seen Boiler Room but I've heard rave over Vin's preformance. Makes U wonder why he's wen the way he's went with his carreer. I mean turning down Fast & Furious 2 to do that Kingarden Cop knock off? WTF? Robert Duvall is a good call too. Actually saw him in person at a football game in 1999. He was over here shooting a football film at the time so I guess he stopped off at the game to talk the film up at half time.

Rock? Maybe... but since he went ahead and starrted in that silly Walk the Line remake I'm not so sure, and as a die hard wrestling the time he was the main in the then WWF that's not something I say likey.

I guess I would throw in Coillin Ferall but the thing is whislt all of the "young guns" examples U gave were good I still don't they think they match the Clint era. I mean I don't know if you saw Gran Trino, but even in his 70's Clint still manged to boss every scene he's in and that's what I mean too. Longevity. I can't really see any of the young un's doing that at his age in a film. I think it all just comes down to the fact that times were harder back then and displian was top priortiy with folks. U add all that shit up and you just get this tougher genration all around ... wow that was deep. lol. But i'm sure you know I mean... I hope, like this doesn't sound like authenic frontier jibberish.=>

I got the joke. lol. I hope to christ this isn't s virus though. I got a hospital to go to tomrrow. lol Just working on W-E at time of writting so lets see how that goes when I feel like this. lol

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. Had a podcast to record and then actually went into the real the world last night and still kind of sick. So now I return this comment.

Ha. How true what U say about the whole social stie thang. I would also add at times a cruel irony. Oh don't get me wrong. I love this site and the context of it all but one or two aspects are starting to make me look at things in a diffrent fashion in both a computer and real life man sense. Spill was actually my first ever social site. Found out about it in the Spring of 2008 and just kind of followed it as a casual mostly due to the fact my e-mail wasn't legit or something akin to that.

Joined Feb 15th of this year and haven't looked back since. I love that the site gives U a creative platform, this has meant I could write blogs, stories and of course as of late a podcast which to this day I'm baffled I'm doing cause to be honest with U mate. I think my public speaking skills are somewhat below par, but hey oh. The feedback has been good so far and the ladies seem to dig the accent, and that can't be a bad thing.. lol =>

U mentioned like three generation of actors there so let me ask U this.,,

Are there any legit tough guy actors out there now? This something my dad and I discuss from time to time and I now think he's right. By this I mean a dude like Lee Marvin. Charles Bronson. Steve McQueen. Clint Eastwood. Do legit tough guys who were dammed good actors still exist in this day and age. I don't personally think so. I think there all pussy whipped now. Russell Crowe is probably, but he fucks it all up anytime he goes outside and U know talks.. lol.

Just thought I'd pose that to ya as U by all accounts a man in the know for all genrations acting. =D

Sadly, I can't see anyone EVER doing Stranger in a Strange Land. Or rather, not as a single movie. Maybe if someone has the guts to try it as a Mini-series it might work. But, here's the problem with doing such a masterpiece. How do you make it without pissing off the "Religious groups"? I mean, can you think of a group that wouldn't get it at all? It's not anti-religion (of any one particular group), but instead it's saying have your religion (of your choice), just remember to love one another, even if you have different religions.

Sorry, but as much as I absolutely LOVE Heinlein's books, most of them aren't going to translate well to the big-screen without getting slaughtered by scripts.

Hey. Sorry for the late reply. Kind of under the weather so I haven't been on Spill much the last two days. Cool if U do.The good thing about this Saw film is that it's not too much trap wise. Some of it was just over the bloody top. Plus they toned down the quick cuts and pounding music. In fact in one trap it's pretty much slient as it builds the tenition. A rare thing for a trap. Although said trap hit a little too close to me.. And no just in case U do see it, I'll answer this. I'm not a smoker.. lol

There is some CSI style vrime scene work, I won't lie. But I always find these scenes few and a far between. Cool that U do such work. Was kind of intrested in doing that. But I have to wait until a certain college get their act together.. lol.

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder if CGI is being used a tad too much now. I mean it just seems to be for every thing. But it looks good for this film.

Thanks for what you said about my pic. It's acutually a mask I wwar for health reasons. But i though I'd flip it for halloween. => U were in the airforce? Really? Nice

Here let em ask u this. Now U said this one or two times now. Is this UR firs social networking site and what do u think of them as a whole? This goes back to all teh change U have seen in yer life, ya know?
