Hometown:
Cave in Iran
About Me:
I'm currently a third year university student caught between several passions. One's the overdone youthful passion to address the social ills of the world. Frankly, cynicism has f***** (am I allowed to swear on this site?) the poo(?) out of those thoughts for a good while now. I just say it to look "hip". A fairly new passion involves doing research in ecology and population models in hopes of getting closer to sustainability so I'll still be alive in 30 years time. Us Canadians will probably have killed ourselves before the cataclysmic floods when we find it's not cold enough for hockey or other winter sports. Strangely enough, another passion is the entertainment industry. Finally, the one passion that dictates the course of my life nowadays is doing absolutely nothing other than watching movies and playing video games. Blurays have certainly put this particular passion above the rest.

Personality wise, I visualize my mind as a wandering moth on crack. Even if the light is right in front of me, I'll still smack into the wall. In the case that my attempt at being poetic with a metaphor fails miserably, what I mean to say is that I'm random, and like to do things differently than the norm. It keeps life interesting and incites the fun side in people that is normally suppressed in boring formalities and routines. In true "Let's do This" fashion, I like to fuck peoples' thoughts to leave a lasting impression on people; I don't discriminate between pleasant impressions and horrible ones. I also describe myself as a "well-rounded" asshole. In that, I'm a considerate and entertaining asshole. I'll fry you for any logical misstep, but only for you and everyone's amusement. I'll never make it personal or hurtful, and won't bash you for a difference in opinion. Unless you try to shove your misguided opinions down my throat for something like, let's say, religion. In that case, I'll go Cyrus on your ass.

The mess that is my state of mind has probably got something to do with how I grew up. I've never settled in one place, and have gone through many languages and accents until my stop in Toronto. I was born in Iran, but immediately moved to Dubai, other neighboring desert towns, Canada, the US, London, Iran, and then back to Toronto. I haven't stopped my traveling ways and finances willing, I try to backpack in a new country every summer. I like to give the excuse that I'm doing it to "find myself", but really I'm just stalling life and all its responsibilities. I'd like to avoid the uphill struggle of life and instead make it a slippery slide of fun!

Anyways, I think I've bullshitted for too long now. I'm happy to be part of the awesome community of Spill and look forward to meeting you all.

Tootles.
All Time Favorite Movies:
This question is just too much pressure. Being only at the tender age of 20, I know still have much to learn about the magical word of cinema. I don't have a definite favourite list (that's how it's spelt you American bastards!), but here's a few of my tops in several genres.

Matrix, Sunshine, District 9, Lord of the Rings, The Thing, 28 days and weeks (looking for REC on bluray), The Dark knight, Wall-E, Reign over me (won't get into the reasoning, but uncelebrated movie that has really stuck with me), Fight Club, Kingdom of Heaven (almost anything Ridley), Borat (so many things that mocked my schitzo culture that it brought tears to my eyes), the last 10 minutes of Hangover, Shaun of the Dead, Casino Royale, 500 Days of Summer, Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park ahhh I feel like there's so many missing. I'll change it as it streams into my head.
All Time Worst Movies:
There's waaaaay too many to have to name off. Two certainly stick out in my mind though. Year One. OH MY GOD! I was so frustrated with the movie I wanted to burn down the theater with me still in it so I wouldn't have to watch it anymore. The other one is "The son of mask". This one was on the plane. Just like Year One, dieing in a horrible plane crash would have been better than sitting through that.
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
Hugo Weaving (maybe it's just his voice), Edward Norton, Depp, Bale, Natalie Portman, Matt Damon, Sir Ian McKellen (he's played way too many old man bad asses), Ryan Reynolds (My god, he's sooo hawt!), Daniel Day Lewis, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Pitt, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Bill Nighy.

Boy, I'm a chauvinistic bastard.
Favorite Directors:
Danny Boyle, Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, Dan Carpenter, Stanley Kubrick, John Lasseter

Zac Efron is Spiderman!

I don't know whether the source is credible, but according to UK celebrity news source, OK, Zac Efron will be donning the red and blue webbed tights. Though a tweenie's dream come true, and maybe a few creepy old men, the news will be sure to spark a cataclysm of blogs of angry fanboys listing every possible reason why the movie that doesn't have a script yet will be horrible. One can only hope that the people who made the casting decision weren't the same people that shat out the painful… Continue

Hi.

I'm a Spillio who lives in the Toronto area. I love this website and all of the Spill crew, but often feel disconnected from the community living so far away from Austin, Texas. So I thought I'd see if there were any other Spillios who live in the GTA who'd be interested in meeting up and hanging out for social events.

I'm thinking stuff like movie nights (obviously), karaoke, paintball, gaming, wonderland, etc. Fan Expo is also happening this month which would be the perfect occasion for a meetup.

I've created a group on the site. It's called "Toronto Spillios". If you can't find it, there's a link to it on my profile page. Join up! It's a great chance to get together with people who love the site and love movies in general.

Hope to hear from you!

In Spill most people start with the video reviews. If you like those enough, then listen to the audio reviews and then there main shows ACOCO, LEOG & LDT (A Couple Of Cold Ones, League of Extra Ordinary Gentleman & Let's Do This).
