I'm not going to tout it as a great film, but I felt that it had a lot of personality, and I just thought it was refreshing to have a non pixar cartoon aimed at an older audience. I've never seen the Gerard Butler version (i want to), but I do know that an award-winning documentary was filmed about the making of that movie.

I get what you're saying about films today... have you ever seen Sunshine (2006)? Now that's a film I can confidently say that I was moved by.
