About Me:
Who am I? You sure you want to know? The story of my life is not for the faint of heart. If somebody said it was a happy little tale... if somebody told you I was just your average ordinary guy, not a care in the world... somebody lied. But let me assure you, this, like all stories worth telling, is all about....

MOVIES! That's what it's all about! Movies, movies, movies! Movies are the nectar of life, essential to the survival of mankind! The history books lie, my friends, movies have always been with us ever since the dawn of time! The Garden of Eden was a paradise because movies grew on trees! All Hail Movies!!

OK, enough with the hyperbole. I am Joshua the Anarchist, and as you can tell, I love movies. When you hear the word "anarchist" you probably thing of a murdering psychopath or a flag-burning punk rocker, but this is not true. The official definition of "anarchist" is "a person who promotes disorder or excites revolt against any established rule, law, or custom". And I am here to excite revolt against the established hierarchy of the film industry. Down with the greedy studio execs who heap crapy movie after crapy movie on us simply to turn a profit! Down with the pompous film critics who don't even care about movies! Power to the people! Let the movie revolution begin!

As you can tell, I've got a big problem with the film industry. I believe filmmaking is an art first, a business second. I seek out lesser known movies, because often the best filmmakers are ignored by big budget studios. I especially love fan films. They may be cheap, but there's zero profit motivation involved, and the filmmakers are guaranteed to genuinely care about what they do.

I myself am an amateur writer and aspiring filmmaker/actor. I have a little internet show called "The Lunatic Fringe", in which I conduct movie reviews that express my more unpopular opinions in the way of movies. Feel free to check out the show at http://joshuatheanarchist.blogspot.com

VLOG 6/19/10: Jonah Hex review

Fun fact: There were only seven other people in the theater besides me, and all in their fifties at least. I'm not even sure what that says.

NOTE: The first few minutes of this have nothing to do with the movie, just some ranting about my latest move, so start at about 2:35 if you want to skip all that.

As you can probably tell, the shear suckitude of this movie left me pretty discombobulated so I left a few things out or unsaid.…

An Alternative Review of Avatar

This is a simple VLOG I recorded after seeing the new James Cameron film. Here's my thoughts: And furthermore: The more I think about this movie, the more I hate it. They couldn't settle for beating us over the head with environmental propaganda, but they even throw in a rant against the War on Terror. They might as well have had the words "all white people are evil" omnipresent of the screen.By the way, is the actual name of the mineral they're mining for unobtainium? Are you fucking kidding…See More

Dude, update your blog-posts.

Do you think Scott Pilgrim would have been better (and more enjoyable for you) if it was McLovin instead of Michael Cera?

Wow, don't know if I would say that Avatar is substandard when you include Titanic and True Lies.

I would agree that Avatar is one of his "weaker" sci-fi films, like The Abyss. That doesn't mean that it's a "bad" movie or un-enjoyable. That's the issue that I've had. Most people seem to hate the movie flat-out, no room to budge at all. It's treated as though it was made by Uwe Boll in the hate that it gets.

Okay, not sure who is calling Avatar a "Masterpiece", but I assure you it's not me. If anything I'm saying that it was a good film. But then again, I didn't enter the theater LOOKING for a masterpiece. I went in looking FOR a good movie and I got one.

Is it a masterpiece? No, not by a long shot.
Is it a movie that deserves the "hatred" that it's getting from some circles? Not in my opinion because you should have KNOWN going into the theater that you weren't going to get a movie that was going to be absolutely perfect, because Cameron has never made a "Perfect" film, just really good-enjoyable ones.
