Looks like "500 Days of Summer" is playing in Austin at the Regal Arbor and the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.

While it's true that some people just get lazy with their CG usage, some don't either and some get lazy with practical effects. It's a tool, like anything else, and as time goes on and audiences get more discerning about the effects (they already are quickly) you'll see less crappy CG. A major advantage to this new era of CG accessibility is that it makes projects possible that wouldn't have been any other way like Lord of the Rings or Spider-man.

I hear what your saying. You have to find a website that shows cinematic releases through the decades so you can see that there has ALWAYS been tons of dumb crappy movies that came out, we just don't remember those ones. When you were younger films seemed better because you didn't have the experience of comparison to rely on. Trust me, "Six Days and Seven Nights" is NOT a good movie. There's just as much good to bad movies coming out now as there were when you were a kid. Hell, I'd argue that they're getting BETTER at the big budget ones. Not everything is going to be a winner but you can't say that the powers that be aren't making any good "big" films. This summer alone we got Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Kung-Fu Panda, The Forbidden Kingdom, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Prince Caspian, Indiana Jones, and shortly Wall-E (which I've been told by pretty much everyone is fricking amazing). What are you complaining about?

If you like the little indie conversation films, great. I do too. But there is room for both and sometimes with film you DO want to put style over substance. Nothing wrong with a well-done scary haunted house or rollercoaster ride or the cinematic equivalent.

We try to throw in other stuff, but comics are always going to be one of the primary thrusts of LEOG's discussions. Sorry, it's one of the main reasons it exists.

Hmm. I guess sometimes I just miss comments. I don't remember getting asked that but I get so many questions...
Yes, I adore Chuck. He is totally insane in the best possible way.

True, but it's easy to forget that when you yourself find it so hysterical. Believe me, I have people look at me like I just said, "I hate cheese" when I tell them I didn't really care for Anchorman.

Actually, while I by no means would defend BOF as a good movie per say, it genuinely had some stuff that amused me, mainly the direct parody it was doing of Enter The Dragon. As stupid comedies (that probably should have gone direct to dvd) go, this was one of the less bad ones.

Modern Action and Indiana Jones

Ok i gotta get it out, FUCK modern action movies and the special effects and dumb fucking fake B.S. like Hitman and Wanted. Im tired of bullets curving and crazy Matrix like fighting moves. I can it some but not too much. I love Indiana Jones, I mean what rational person doesnt. The new Indiana Jones movie gives hope for more of the use of stunt men by doing more live stunts and classic action rather then CGI. I love the classic indiana jones like action. And btw if u didnt like the first three… Continue
