PoisonPirate said… I hear you. I really love Amy Adams, she's a beautiful and talented actress which is why it was a crying shame she was so wasted in this movie. her restaurant song was such a throwaway scene.
I can see why they made all those "Who are the Muppets again?" type-jokes because it was a Muppet comeback movie, even if they didn't all work. Scratch that, even if most of them didn't work.
A minor gripe I had was that this was the first film that used the Muppet theater. I kind of liked that the other Muppet Movies, even the ones that weren't so great were able to stand on their on two feet rather than being a movie-length episode of the show.
Something people loved about the first Muppet movie and really all the muppet movies was that since the Muppet Show always took place inside , it was magical to see the Muppets out in the real world for their films, rather than just on a set.
PoisonPirate said… I'm with you about the Muppets. having Kermit and the others be supporting roles to Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Walter was a huge pitfall.
A complaint I often hear and tend to agree with, is that a major flaw with Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island is that they had human stars. Even in Muppets from Space Kermit wasn't the lead. Not to mention how underused Fozzie and Piggy were in those films.
Which is why I was amazed they did again in 2011s Muppets, after all Segels guff about how this film wold be a return to the classic Muppet movie. Kermit hasn't been the star since 1984s Muppets Take Manattan. Craziness!
I hope this new film will star Kermit and the Muppets as the leads. Rather than celebrity vehicle featuring the Muppets.
