Well except for the obvious fact that it is a lava planet and it sits way way way too close to the sun. This is what scientists had to say.... "This is a major discovery in the field of trying to find life elsewhere in the universe". How is finding…

Simple question here, but is not intented to be a religious debate. Is the theory of evolution based on evidence or faith? Where do we have evidence that evolution is true? What do the fossil records have to say? Are there any intermediate fossils…

i posted this on my page for some reason and only realized today.

read this link, even i learned something from this, and it is directly about the cambrian explosion and the 'sudden' increase in life, it is not in depth but if you take a look at the bibliography it is extensive.

http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CC/CC300.html

if you have time this is a very in-depth scientific paper on evolution as common descent, it has taught me a lot already and i am still reading through it.

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/

but you are right we are going in circles, this is stuff i have shown you before, if you really wanted to learn you would have either already read at least some of the links i have sent you, but you are clearly not interested in that, good luck and see you in the forums.

peace

how many times do i have to say this, i gave you factual information and links to web sites by well respected scientific institutes and you reject it, you show me time and time again that you lack a proper understand of not just evolution but simple biology, there is considerable evidence to prove my point thats why i believe there is no faith required at all.

and yes you have struck a chord, you know nothing of what you talk about but act like you have a greater knowledge of biology, but when you ask question like why did an increase in oxygen increase the development of life, all it does is show my that you are scientifically illiterate, i can't be bothered to debate with you, a normal rational person would have seen that the evidence weights so heavily in the favor of evolution only someone who actively is trying to deny it, could deny it.

here are some websites and links if this doesn't convince you i quit, i finally got bored of debating with some one as closed minded and ignorant as you.

dude you always say some thing is far fetched, well believing in magic is far fetch to me, i find it far more believable that life developed over hundreds of millions of years than we come from two super-humans that were simple conjured into existence. but thats just me.

the video i referred to was actually posted by chig, the one post on you page was to show how strobel was not capable of making comment on biology due to his lack of knowledge on the subject.

ok as i understand it due to an increase in the level of oxygen in the sea probably due to increases in life forms like plankton, life was able to develop at a rate which had not been possible before, over 40 millions years (which is a long time with the possibility for million and million of generation to develop) we got the a lot more varieties of fish life. and also due to the emergence of solid bodied fish e.i crustacean etc there could be fossilized where the completely soft bodies one could not. but the cambrian period did not create all life on the planet at this point there was still no really life on land that came later. i hope that answered your question.

i apologies if the video insulted you but all it does is show how creationist science is wrong on many level both scientifically and mathematically.

i really don't get it man you want to know about the cambrian exposition so i give you a video to watch about that time by a man whose knowledge is better than mine and you don't watch it, you are making the debate personal, and you constantly move the goal post, just because i can not personal answer a question of your to the special extent you have chosen doesn't mean evolution is wrong.

in england we don't have a strong politically active christian right like in america so our education systems has not under attack by anti intellectuals for the last hundred years, in england science class teaches evolution as the only true theory we only learn about other theories which came before to examine how they were wrong, darwin is on our £10 note, it is only really in america that there is this perceived idea that evolution is not correct and only among members of the christian right.

and how am i pompous you are the one claiming to have a better position to comment on this field of science than the people who studied to be in it and dedicate there life to the understanding of evolution, that pompous, that ignorant.

please watch this video, its very interesting and makes a point about strobel being a lawyer and not a scientist

At 4:00pm on November 23, 2009, Latter Day Heretic said…
okay i was pulling those numbers out of my arse they were an exaggeration but it still is true that the vast majority hold evolution to be correct.

but seriously i post a response to you, you come back with the same answer every time about me not answering your question even though i try to do so, and if i pose you a question i never get a response answering my questions, i answered you caribian question i sent you a link which was very informative. i have done this before as well to other questions and gotten a similar response then.

I can not make you understand this stuff, but i will try again, it is okay to have doubts about certain aspect of evolution, like all other parts of science it is made up of many different fields, and each field is made up of lots of different people, people study different parts of evolution, different times, each part is scrutinized and then compared with other groups to see what overlaps, and most of the time it does, this is not guess work, its constantly being reviewed, updated, altered and all openly and the more we find out the more it seems to back up the evidence we already have, new fossils are found, new ways of analyzing materials are created, our understand of dna grows, all these things help us to better understand evolution.

you can't keep moving the goal post
At 3:22pm on November 23, 2009, Latter Day Heretic said…
I don't think that it is an exaggeration over 95% of all biologist know evolution to be fact, and many of the names that the discovery institute claim to have are lies or people who are not real biologist also i looked at the lee strobel's video and many of the talking heads he had are people i distrust due to their own track records of misrepresenting fact or science.

i know it is hard for you to except due to your upbring and religious beliefs but evolution is a fact, there is more evidence for it than against it and the evidence against it is often wrong, and out right lie or a straw man argument based on semantics and a metaphor which doesn't apply to the real world.

the best point i can make is one you made yourself, that it was 'unfair' when i am another spill member were putting up peer reviewed papers and scientific articles about evolution, because you could not do something like this, and that is the point we have the evidence you don't, and seriously to say that you are in a better position to comment on this than someone who has dedicated his or her' life to this field of science is laughable and in my opinion makes you very arrogant.

i say this with no animosity towards you but in the hope that you understand that its not like i am saying i think its true based on my observations but on the observations of much smarter people than me with a lot of experience and knowledge in this particular field of science. who are not only are probably smarter than you and me but probably have degrees or doctorates in biology.
