I started reading Civil War but I felt like there were a whole bunch of references I wasn't getting. I'm hoping to read some of the background material and then give it another shot.

Unfortunately that's pretty much why Sony are making a new Spidey film and the same reason why Fantastic Four is getting a reboot from Fox. Remember the old days when a reboot was only for a franchise like Batman, when the last film was so bad there was nowhere to go? They didn't reboot X-Men, they just made another in continuity good one! I haven't really paid any attention to what's happening with the Spider-Man marketing, but I'll still give the film a chance.

I would suggest checking out Austin Midtown Holiday Inn. There is also a list of Hotels here...though the rates may be different.
