Now NGE is short for Neon Genesis Evangelion, the classic anime/manga that was remade many many times. I watched the original at age 8 and it fucked me up for life.
It's a must see if ya ask me. And it's more then worth your time.
It's a mech anime but it has a lot more then that in it, a lot of dark shit and a lot of apocalyptic Jewish mythology.
