I got to admit man. I'd be really intrested to seeing Surfers reaction to some of my fave horror films. Well not even that man. Take Sev7en. That is a reaction I's like to see. lol.
You are so sweet & I always enjoy hearing your views, when you call into Surfer's show...
You are so smart!.....
Oh and good plan on Surfer. Just take babysteps with him... Wonder how long it would take til he was ready for Hard Candy? lol
Do U have Skype? If so then one day a "guest" spot is something B and I talked over.
We liked UR question. when I could get them out of course. lol
btw, just to ask, and let me jus make this clear. NO ONE has said this to us. I'm just asking. But do U think our podcasts are too long. Is over the two mark for such a brand new podcast a good thing? Just wondering, and U really know UR stuff. As U proved on Surfer's show. =D
I think we need to "turn" Surfer so he can watch and enjoy a good horror film. lol
But to answer your question, I haven't seen many of the pre-50s classics. I only saw Freaks and loved it, which isn't really horror by today's standards, and the Cabinet of Dr Caligari, which didn't really do much for me. I'm more of a 70s and 80s type of chick but there are quite a few recent horror flicks that I absolutely love (Cube, May, The Mist, The Ruins, The Orphanage, Sunshine, etc.). I think I'm more drawn to psychological horror than actual gore or jump scares, and atmosphere is crucial for me to buy into any premise presented in a horror film. To me, after the Exorcist, the scariest movie of all time is Spoorloos (or the original The Vanishing). I find both these movies dripping with dread and tension all the way through. There isn't a drop of blood to be found in Spoorloos but it gives me chills from beginning to end. I watched a movie called The Hole a few weeks ago and I also found that very effective on a psychological level, although it does have many flaws. I guess sociopathy and psychopathy terrify me. Another example is the documentary Dear Zachary. That shit stayed with me for weeks (watch it if you want to know why). How about you? What's the common thread in the movies you love or that get to you the most?
P.S. Barry White, Frank Sinatra: some great singing along music. I wish Band Hero would give them the attention they deserve. :)
