Difficult question. As the owner of both, I would say the PS3 is a better package deal. You get a blueray player and a game system in one. However, blueray is pointless unless you have a hi-def capable monitor.
The XBox is probably just as powerful a system and some of the exclusives on it are really really good. Also, the XBox live network is definitely better for online gaming.
I think it boils down to what you're looking for from your entertainment experience. What kind of games you want to play, how you want to play them, and what you want from your machine.
You might want to ask Cyrus and Jason when they're both in the same room as each owns one of the consoles in question and it would be contructive to hear their arguments for each.

How do you like that man, got the final four on the dot. Was worried this week that one of the Votaggio bros was getting the boot, but they survived for another week. Next unfortunately is probably going to be Jennifer (though I will absolutely miss those pool shots of her in her bikini). Again I'm picking Kevin to win it all, but wouldn't complain if Brian won it. This season is a pretty cool cast, they do go out of their way to help eachother. Michael's kind of a dick though.
I finished 3 two days ago. Damn, that was awesome! Season 2 has my favorite season premiere, but Season 3 has my favorite finale. Desmond is probably my favorite character so far. Still have no clue who this "Faraday" guy people talk about is...
I will be getting 4 soon. By my timing, I should finish it when 5 comes out, giving me a smooth transition with no wait period. :D
