to think of a list off the top of my head i'm thinking:
The Godfather of course,
Wonderland, the "based on the true events" of the wonderland ave in LA murders,
Capote, and In Cold Blood,
King of New York,French Connection is rarely seen but enjoyable,
48 Hours just for fun...
Donnie Brasco with pacino and Johnny Depp,
LA CONFIDENTAL, The Untouchables..From Hell with Johnny Depp wasn't bad.., I'm not sure any of those or any else you enjoy...
Oh no don't worry man, i'm just trying to expand my horizons with different movies, all sorts of them. So the more the merrier! it doesn't have to even go with anything in particular
(Slaps Smitty in the face, very hard) "Back off - smoocher!"
"Say, what gives?"
Classic! It's the only movie I've ever really like JJL in to be honest. And boy does she blow it away!
As for John Carpenter, "Halloween" and "The Fog" were two of my favorites of all time. "Halloween" is because he used a low-budget to create a "realistic" simnple story using dark and suspence elements with the help of his composed theme songs to make it creepy. Of course, I give Alfred Hichkock's "Psycho" most of the credit for the "true" birth of the "slasher" films but Carpenter redefined it to a point where many filmmakers to this day took inspiration and borrowed it's elements to make spin offs. "The Fog" was a good creepy flick too because he shows that you don't have to uses a bunch of gore to make a movie scary. He uses a formula to fashion a ghost story with a menacing edge. Just like "Halloween", The Fog's strengths were built on gut-wrenching chase scenes that capture the director's ability to create suspense, atmosphere, and some wonderful jolts. Well, that's my take on the directing styles of Woo and Carpenter. Thanks for stopping by to ask.
I will have to check out Better Tomorrow and some more, i've been trying to find Internal affairs, the movie i think inspired "The Departed" but is there quite a few of them? Tyring to also find the Brotherhood of War,and Oldboy and any Tony Jaa flick for quite some time. I really enjoy Shaolin Soccer to, so funny, and Tokyo Zombie wasn't too bad either. By any chance did you enjoy "Leon: the Professional"?, or even "Hot Fuzz", or another great masterpiece is "Blade Runner"
