- M, Metropolis, Akira, Ran, Dr. Strangelove, The Maltese Falcon, too many others to list. I also like SF, action flicks,
loved kung-fu theater and Bruce Willis movies growing up.
Comedies are hit or miss with me. Being a guy, dumb fun works but not for a whole movie. Rom-coms to me, are unintentionally funny in how they highlight and play on some very tired tropes. Most horror for me, having seen my share of real gore and suffering, tends to either bore or annoy me, esp torture porn like Saw, Hostel, et al. Psychological horror , that strips away the armor of knowledge and experience and gives you that visceral rush of dealing with a hostile unknown- Alien, the Haunting of Hill House (the original, not the craptastic recent remake) sublime.
