Oh I am a huge fan of Pedro Almodóvar's work. I've not only seen all of his films but own them. They don't dub in the United States anymore. The only way you can see if a film dubbed in English is by waiting till it is released on DVD and you click the option.
All of Almodóvar's were released in theatre by their original language. I have no problems reading subtitles.
whuddup fran! np and thank you.
yeah, some movies on my favorites, arent really the best movies out there, however, the experiences i had with friends an family while watchin them put them up there, despite their potential aha. seems like you got some good taste in movies also :). yeah i hated twilight, my sister liked it, i dont get what people enjoy from it, the villain is built up to be a big threat, but ends up being defeated in no time in the end... so i dont get the point of him in the first place. i see you didnt like cloverfield. lol i never liked that movie either.
I think you're right. When I look back, I found the film to be quite refreshing because for once (at least in American film market) Mexicans weren't depicted and drug dealing cliche' and untrustable poor street peddlers. I did like Y Tu Mama Tabien because after a um, very intimate moment between best friends...the two grow up and never speak to each other again. I thought that was a very good statement about growing up and living in the moment. I think that was the film that gave him an opening for the Harry Potter film.
Are you a fan of Pedro Almodóvar's work (Talk to Her) and Fernando Meirelles/Kátia Lund (City of God)?
Everyone seems to be praising Let the Right One In and well the last time I went to see a movie that got high praise was Slumdog and that turned out to be awesome.
The Fountain seemed like a visual masterpiece like Sunshine, but the story also seems good too.
Blindness looks like a decent story and beautiful location shots and not too mention Julianne Moor who I loved in Children of Men.
Hey hows it goin???? I'm a big fan of your movie list too. You have a lot of classics on there and some movies I haven't had the privledge of seeing yet. So your also a Boondocks fan eh???? Have you read the comic strips as well???? And do you have a fav character????
Hola :) I think that The Watchmen should have been broken up into 2 movies. The first movie could have ended when Rorschach was caught by the police, the second could have come out 4 months later with Rorschach in prison then finish the movie in style.I have never read the book & for me the I felt like a lot of stuff was left out.Have you seen Wolverine yet,if so how did you like it?Are you going to see Star Trek?
I think you have a pretty nice list of fav's as well. Yea, i'm not really sure why I like Vanilla Sky as much as I do, but i've heard the original is way better. I'm still planning on checking it out soon. I can't believe you actually watched Eragon lol. And thumbs up on Robin Hood Men in Tights...classic
Thanks Fran
don't worry i think i've probably got about 20+ years on you so there's two decades you have to catch up! lol
and you have The Fountain top of your favourites list which is good enough for me! first time I watched it I thought that was cool but WTF!? second time it touched me deeply, made me cry and made perfect sense! next day my mate asked me why? and I couldn't for the life of me explain!? I have the same ongoing experience with blue velvet! every time it blows me away and then a few days later it's gone like a great dream you can't remember!
makes em all the more special and worth re-visiting.
anyway

You’re probably thinking, “What do you mean? Isn’t that why it’s called Sci-Fi?”
Well, yes and no. The method in which science is woven into the storyline has much to do in determining to what degree true science plays a part in a movie. It may b...
