For the first time on Spill.Com, Spill Members from Great Britain and the United States bring to Spill a weekly podcast where ALL Spill members are welcome to appear as guests and speak on what's on their minds on Spill and everything else.
Nick Hodges and Korey have returned to bring the next official Spill Party to the streets of London. Since the last one was such a success Korey is coming back for seconds. It's time for Spill Party 3: Return of the Black Wonder
A group for the fans of one of the best TV shows I have seen in ages!
Also for the haters of Big Brother and the shitty manis that desends on the UK when the summer rolls around.
If only this shit was real!
hi, First of all, I think up is truly great and is the greatest film of this very year, but when I talk about the mixture of british and american culture, I'm talking about how the animals are american and the human are british, I can see the problem people have, and the film did pull out the anarcy and animal crulty element out, but I thought that it works as we don't know how animals could speak so they could very well mix them up.
Yeah, that's the funny part about Martha on Doctor Who.
In the UK, it was no big deal at all, and no one seemed to care one way or another about her color. They were just upset that Rose was gone from the show.
In the US, sadly, it was a point of interest to point out and make an "issue" of.
Not saying that it was a right thing to do in the US, but it's what some of the "fan sites" were going on about. They thought that the whole Racial-issue was something to note (and it was for show's history) as some sort of "Wonder" to keep an eye on. I think that Martha's popularity in the US took a hit because of people wanting to make a Racial-issue of it, and see pass the skin color and look at the characters as they were. Thankfully, I think her character was strong enough to overcome all the "negative aspects" people assigned to her without watching the show at all.
Hey just saw your photos and was wondering what 'Forbiden Planet' was that cos it looks like the one i go to in London, when was this event cos im so wicked jelous.
Oh yes, I hold UNKLE's first album in extremely high regard. I'd even go so far as to say that I package it and "Endtroducing" together in my head as one double record. Fantastic. And I dig Rob D as well.
I enjoyed it too. I actually think you're in a better spot if you haven't read the book. I think the movie ending works sooooo much better. When you see the US and USSR presidents shake hands and understand what's going on. Your like WTF? Great twist I thought.
So as you know, the next London spill party’s coming up. Korey’s planning to make a video announcing it on the site but first we need to settle on where/ what we’re doing. Nick’s looked up two places we could go to, The Lonsdale Bar in Notting Hill (http://www.urbanpath.com/london/cocktail-bars/lonsdale-bar.htm) and the arches at London bridge (http://www.the-arches.com/listings.htm) . as you can see, these places have totally different atmospheres but there’s also the option that we start off at Lonsdale bar and then move onto the arches later.
We’re just trying to get a vibe of what people are feeling. If you could get back to either nick or me with what you want to do, that would be awesome!
Yeah at one me and a few of the main Britz who I know through Spill and organize things with, thought about doing that once but over time real life intervened and plus things are hectic with the parties and festivals. I'm pretty sure they'd still be up for it. The main guys I'm thinking are Hexx and Babulu Jack. We had the idea of doing podcasts about British Films that don't get seen in America.
I can understand why passions were so high for Watchmen. I mean, I know dick about comic books but I know just how important WM is to comic fans so whoever directed the film was in for an uphill struggle right from the get go. Like I said I enjoyed it the "debate" with Beau.I just wish he stayed around a while longer. I'm not saying I won by the way. I'll call it draw, unless he wants to change that of course. LOL! What did you think of WM by the way?
