About Me:
Art Aficionado/Step-dad/Social Butterfly/RN/Lover of good toasts to friends new and old
All Time Favorite Movies:
Mad Dog and Glory: Directed by John McNaughton (Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer). Beyond a funny performance by DeNiro who plays a wuss, this is about a lonely man who is a civil servant but wishes he could express himself. I loved the conversation between Murray and DeNiro about Civil servants v. artists. DeNiro admires them for their courage to take the risks he's afraid to make. Murray considers them spineless socialites who create their own world so they don't have to face reality. I loved this film because its been a reflection of my career and my ambitions.

The Half Nelson: A powerful film about how we get stuck in the cross roads in life. Ryan Gosling brings it as a public school teacher/aspiring idealist who nurses a crack habit. He befriends a student who weighs selling crack v. sticking it out after her brother went to jail. I loved this film because life never resolves itself. It's one day after another in a monotonous cycle. The soundtrack is awesome...the Broken Social Scene is one of my favorite bands and completely captures the mood of the film.

The Lonliness of the Long Distance Runner: Before Chariots of Fire made sure that fuckin song annoyed the shit out of use, this was the film that inspired it's conception and cinematography. The story revolves around a kid who finds himself in Juvenile Delinquent correctional facility. When the warden finds out this kid has a talent, he milks the publicity for all its worth. In the end, this is a film about a man alone with his thoughts, his demons, his regrets, and his sole desire to finish the race. This is a film about finishing what you started.
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
*In no particular order* Robert DeNiro (Mad Dog and Glory), Sam Shepard (The Right Stuff), Paul Newman (Cool Hand Luke, Slapshot), Gabriel Byrne (Miller's Crossing), Ryan Gosling (Half Nelson), Ed Harris (Pollock), Nicolas Cage (Adaptation, Matchstick men), Clive Owen (Children of men), Benicio del Toro (Usual Suspects), Daniel Craig (Layer Cake), Javier Bardem (Before Night Falls), Mark Ruffalo (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Tom Wilkinson (In the Bedroom). Don Cheadle (Talk to Me, Devil in a Blue dress), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Red Belt)

Juliette Bincoche (Bleu), Kate Winslet (Little Children), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings)
Favorite Directors:
Philip Kaufman (The Right Stuff, Henry and June) Kristoff Kieslowski (Trois colors), Mike Hodges (I'll sleep when I am dead), Andrei Tarkovsky (solaris 1972), Erik Skjoldbjærg (Insomnia 1972), Fernando Meirelles (the Constant Gardner), Alfonso Cuarón (Y tu Mama tambien), Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amore Perros), Akira Kirosawa (Sanjuro), Won Kar Wai (In the mood for Love), Ang Lee (Eat Drink, Man woman)

Trust me, it was more a cheap way to get that joke in than an insult. I'm about 65% yes on going. I just have to see if the boss gives me the day off. Seeing Avatar in 3D? That's totally something I'm down for.

That episode you're talking about is called New New York I think, that has one my favourite scenes in, when Rose (possessed by that woman) kisses the Doctor, n he's like "...yep... still got it". Great ep. I don't know if you've heard of 'children in need', its the 30th year, its abit like liveaid, but all the tv stars, musicians n what not do a long show where people donate money, thats what i'm wathcin now, i'm waiting for DrWho to come on coz he always does a little special clip. The one thing that i noticed is that the Doctor always kisses his assistance, even if it's just a special episode. I don't want to ruin anything for you so i won't say anymore and DrWho :D

Accents are defenately a fetish of mine! :) mmm scots n irishmen. tho i love liverpudlions n jordys! wat the hell, i love all accents haha! Btw, you know your girlfriend is british, have you ever had a sunday roast with yorkshire puddings??

I've never seen the original of Clash of the Titans, i will look out for it though, summat to watch init. I like a good love story within action packed fun! :D
Cool vid, i take it the overall opinion was some old bullshit. I think i might just go see it for the fast and furious scenes lol. i had to laugh at the end at the caption "trying out for matric 4" haha, so true.
Have a good weekend xx Laura

Hey, thanks for comment on the blog entry.
I actually love Star Trek very much, but I just couldn't stop myself from poking fun at it, even if i loved it so.
Might try doing more of these... drunken things. If you think it would be desirable.
Cheers..! Hic!

I didn't know they charged you extra on a night, thats a lil odd. Apart form orange wednesday, the only change we have is bargain tuesday haha, its like £1 cheaper n thats it. The pick n mix robs u blind and the ben n jerrys ice cream is so ridiculously epxensive, bloody £3.50 for 2 scoops, its such a rip off, u can get a whole tub for that in the supermarkets! I suppose they have to make their money some how.

I'm gettin Left 4 dead 2 tomorrow when it comes out, hoepfully before it sells out :D I think we're in the same boat, i just need a good zombie apocalpse to get me in the groove. As for Dr Who, i don't think i could comment on what my favourite episode is, but i must say that the special episode 'Waters of Mars' is fantastic, and the bad guys are actually scary. I'm such a wuss when it comes to scary films, i hate sitting through em.
Workin for the BBC must be well cool, although they've been having a hard time lately (money wise) i think alot of people lost their jobs :S My only problem with BBC is that you don't really see any yorkshire folk on TV, most of them speak 'the queens english' which is a crockashit. I can see where they're comin from cause we do tend to shorten our words/sentences mostly all of the time :D for example, instead of "what are they doing?" we'd say "what the doin?" We don't reolise we do it. I love different accents, they're fascinating.
Maybe you have more friends overseas because they're just nicer than people you see everyday lol.
I would love to switch a day-in-the-life with you, though i would suck major ass as a doctor, maybe i could make the tea and sandwiches for the hard workers :)

Btw, i would really like to see the vid xxx Laura

YANKEES

Heya Doc, my weekend wasn't bad at all. i went shopping on saturday and bought a wicked pair of trousers, which i love. even though they don't really go with anything that i have, oh well. I worked sunday for 2 hours! i was so pissed off wen they sent me home, i barely have any shifts in the next coming weeks, which means less money :( I've been filling in my time by playing on COD 4.2 which me n my boyfriends have nicknamed Mod Waf 2. :D And i don't know if you like Doctor Who but there was a special episode on this sunday that i watched, it ....was...AWESOME! i don't know if i mentioned it before (if not then i can't believe i haven't) I'm INSANE for Dr Who, i love the show soo much, n i can't wait for the next season.

I'm really glad to hear your SpillParty went well. And i'm curious about 2012, i might have to rent it later. How are the people, are they all nice?? I'm sure in you will have more members soon for sure :D
In relation to your last 2 comments i have to admit that it always takes me by suprise when someone does an act of kindness especially when it's someone you don't know so well, i'm very happy to call you a friend :D and it would be my pleasure to drop you a gift.
I think that with the all the stories that are going around you forget to trust people, so it's defenately an inspiration to be more open with strangers, hopefully one day i can meet someone an a bus and start up a conversation (i must big up your friend Katie, coz u don't know how socially frigid the British are). If i'm speaking honestly apart from my family (who i love with all my heart; i was very lucky being born into their world), there are only a hand full of people that i actually truly trust.

Anyways, how was your weekend, and week so far? N i was wondeirng if you could explain the difference between a Matinee, and Full Price rating :) cheers.

Speak to you soon, Laura xx

I just noticed your new Avatar - LOVE it!! Hope all is well in the big city. The subs are country cool and fall-like. Looking forward to watching the parade from the warmth of my own home but one of these days I'm going to make it there in person. Have you ever gone? Any tips?

oh that's Ok, I didn't get to send the box yetserday because I have to use cash for shipping because my bank card was cancelled because someone somehow got a hold of my card number. So I'm waiting on my new card and the line at the post office was so long that I can to go back to work because my lunch break was up. All while the auto credit card postage machine was laughing at me with no one using it. ugh. You realized how important your bank card it when you don't have one. I will try sending it today. No worries. I trust you. Your my number one fan! :) It's been busy. I just got a major custom order too yetserday that I was not excepting as well.

And sure i'd love to go, but id rather wait till im 18 to go ^.^ since i personally cant stand NYC traffic. I was there today and some of the streets were closed, kinda agitated me and almost gave me road rage XD but i'll definitely go to a NYC spill party before i leave for fall :]
