The Simplest "Watchmen" Review

5 Good Things

1. Visuals and Sound: Gorgeous to look at. I have no idea what the Spill Crew was talking about, Dr. Manhattan looked great. Both visuals and sound in IMAX combined to destroy my senses.

2. Acting: Oh my GOD was Jackie Earle Haley good as Rorschach, and he even looked exactly like him. Billy Crudup as Jon Osterman AKA Dr. Manhattan had a different voice than I originally imagined, but really fit the character after awhile. Patrick Wilson on the whole… Continue

My Top Film Soundtracks of the Year 2008

Hey guys, I love movies, but I also am very much into music; I am currently studying music theory, or the basic structure of music and how it works, and I plan on majoring in music composition in college, and hopefully someday become a film scorer. Every year, I like to not just pick my favorite films of the year, but also my favorite film soundtracks, because for me, what makes the difference between a simply good film and a GREAT film is how the soundtrack helps carry the emotions, tones, and… Continue

"When the President Does it, That Means That it is Not Illegal" - My Frost/Nixon Review and Discussion of the Modern Biopic.

That line above is one of the most infamous in modern American politics. Before the election of George W. Bush, if there was one man who was always associated with corruption and the presidency, it was Richard Nixon. As the film points out, today, when there is any political scandal associated with the president, it always is given the suffix "-gate," perhaps a way to make sure that Nixon's legacy never dies.…

The Top 10 Saddest Animated Films of All Time

On the recent "Let's Do This!!!!" (aka LDT), someone asked Korey and Co-Host what were movies that made them cry like little girls. I noticed that whenever anyone talks about sad movies, most of the movies they mention (other than movies with those damn animal stars like Lassie) are animated. Whatever it is, I decided to compile a list of the saddest animated movies to me. Keep in mind, I was born in 1991, so, other than Disney classics, most of the animated movies I watched as a kid were from… Continue

true, but something i've noticed with alot of guitarist is that they seem to get lazy or just do generic chord progressions, something i really loved about this record was that you can kinda feel he was having fun whilst playing you know? and one thing i truly love is that you can really look at their first record and then compare it to this one and really really see the growth, i really love that with bands, but thank you for reading man, really appreciate the input!

For a movie that was all but ruined for you, it's strange to me that it made your top ten of 2008.

I am aware of the whole Tommy Lee Jones thing. As I said after the movie I went and read the book, and still stand by my statement that them doing it that way in the movie makes no sense. What I'm saying is that one could nitpick about No Country just as much as Dark Knight.

I don't really want to continue this. Your opinions are your own. if you ever want to have a friendly discussion with me as to why my favorite movies are crap or my worst movies are worth anything, I will be here.
Thank you for the compliment on my screen name.

Now, now... DeathMetalMike, you yourself mentioned that you had problems with The Dark Knight too.. but that doesn't justify you then turning around and calling me names because I was asked to state MY problems with the movie by Korey himself in ACOCO podcast. Did I want to do it? No, I did not. Was I going to do it on my own? Nope, I wasn't. Korey literally called me out to put it out in the public's view, and I did.

Now, to your point.
No, I'm not a douche, nor a snob. I actually did enjoy the Dark Knight. I simply saw enough problems with the movie (okay, sure I'll admit they are PERSONAL opinion or personal tastes in filmmaking) that stops me from calling it the 'greatest' movie. Is that right or wrong? I don't know. It's not me bashing the movie due simply to it's popularity. If that was the case, I would be saying it is a bad movie in total. Instead I simply stated that I had problems with the movie on a personal level, but yet even I still enjoyed the movie.

As far as the Joker goes. I think they wrote his characteristics right... just that it wasn't executed as well as it could have been.

As someone who did think Dark Knight deserved a best pic nom, I'd just like to point out no film is perfect, and every single movie is going to have little things to nitpick about. That being said, absolutely nothing you mentioned runined the movie for me. Who gives a god damn how the Joker poisons the drink? I forget how often I've seen that movie and that never bothered me.

I'll tell you what though, I had far more little complaints with No Country For Old Men, last years winner. I mean complaints other from the fact that the ending made very little sense. Yeah, I even went back and read the book, and it works there, but not in the damn film.

I'm not one of those people who bitches for days. I'm dissappointed, but what's done is done. What bugs me is poeple like you who keep popping up who are defending the academy when it no longer matters.

You are entitled to your opinion, but you are in the minority.
Good day.

Thanks. I'll keep with it for a while, but I'll eventually have to improve so that my bias doesn't interfere with my thoughts on the movie itself.
