The Grey - EARLY REVIEW!

Hello, fellow Spillios! Tonight I was fortunate enough to catch a special early screening of Liam Neeson's latest you-wish-you-were-as-manly-as-me vehicle, The Grey. Now, we've all seen the exciting trailer that culminates with Neeson, glass-covered knuckles ready, about to face off with the biggest, baddest wolf outside of grandma's house. But what you will be surprised (pleasantly, I hope) to hear is that, vicious wolves aside, The Grey is a far more melancholy and somber film than that…See More

Butch Cassidy Does Bolivia: 'Blackthorn' Early Review!

Going home is never easy. In westerns, it’s about as easy as finding a clean-shaven man (or woman), but that’s what Butch Cassidy sets out to do in Blackthorn, a reimagined look at the final days of the ol’ Hole-in-the-Wall alumnus. In this film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid didn’t die in their famous gunfight with the Bolivian army, and in all the years since, Cassidy (now going by the name “James Blackthorn”) has been living a quiet life raising horses. It’s been as peaceful as it has…See More

San Francisco WonderCon 2011 - Green Lantern Footage, Cowboys & Aliens Panel

Hey guys, so I managed to go to WonderCon today out in San Francisco. I had never even heard of this before, not being big on conventions, but since I live in SF and there was a lot of great geek spoils to be seen and had, I spent my Saturday milling about among stormtroopers and lanterns. So anyway, here's a brief rundown of the cool shit I saw (since by now you may have already seen or heard about it already):

This used to be a nice neighborhood: 'The Crazies' Review

I'll be honest, I didn't see Sahara. In fact, be honest, neither did you...probably. But no matter, because Breck Eisner, director of the new film The Crazies and perhaps the world's best poster boy for nepotism, has stepped up to reveal his chops as a new talent.…

What sweet music they make: 'Daybreakers' Review

I was just as surprised as any to be legitimately excited for a vampire movie these days. After hearing the Spill crew recently lavish so much praise on this film from the Spierig Brothers, I was dying to see it. Korey and Cyrus aren't wrong, this is indeed a pretty creative and almost entirely unique idea (at least in film) - the stuffy vampire bosses in Blade touched upon the notion of a somewhat civil vampire society, but other than that, I can't think of anything else that comes… Continue
