Random Movie Review: 2012: Doomsday

People who are familiar with bad low-budget films are probably familiar with The Asylum. The Asylum is a film studio mostly known for making bad rip-offs of currently popular films. Such examples include The Terminators, Transmorphers, and most recently, Almighty Thor. However, they are also known for making equally bad non-rip-off films like Titanic II,…

Dan's Retro Reviews: Zardoz

There are some things in life in which, no matter how much is said, words fail to truly capture the essence of it; Zardoz is one of those things.

Zardoz is a 1974 science-fiction (?) film written, produced, and directed by John Boorman (coming fresh off the heels of Deliverance), and starring Sean Connery, who wears…

Dan's Retro Reviews: Missing In Action

Get all your jokes in now about Chuck Norris coming to kick my ass, because I fucking hate this movie.

Missing in Action is a 1984 action film starring Chuck Norris about a soldier who goes on a solo mission to rescue some American soldiers held hostage in Vietnam. When one takes a look at the trailer or the poster,…

Black Swan (Mini-Review)

I like to look at Oscar-nominated films from two different points of view: an artistic one and a down-to-earth one. I question whether the movie was made simply as an exercise in artsiness or as a labor of love with a soul. Forgive me for saying this, but I believe the former applies to Black Swan.

This film is about an innocent, fragile…

I've got to say that it's clear we don't have the exact same taste in movies, but I'm really digging your blogs. They are actually some of the better ones around. Keep them coming, I really like how you put them together.

Thanks for the add. I've enjoyed all the music posts you've done. And reading your favorite bands, you got two of my favorites: Pink Floyd and The Grateful Dead. If you want to know some good Dead shows, let me know. I've got a bunch.

Don't see Battle Royale. The film is garbage.
Instead, read it. The book, unlike the film, has a stronger message than just blowing kids up.
