Cinematical.com: Summer 2009 Fun Facts

Hey, do Scott a solid and post a link for this. Copying and pasting is bad business - and especially disturbing when it's a good friends piece. Give Ol' Scott some love.

About Me:

Hey kids, it's me Carlyle. I'm just your standard, run of the mill animated movie reviewer. I enjoy watching movies, talking about movies, arguing about movies, dropping names of all my famous friends (that are in movies) and long walks on the beach. So if you're single, and a consenting adult (kids be sure to ask your parents what a consenting adult is), I'd love you to "Friend" me. You know you want to. Just click it. Click my little button. Come on. Click it. Just do it for daddy. Click me one time. Give me the the naughty "Friend"ing I deserve. Then be sure to check out my movie reviews and let me know what you think.

Just a few notes. I LOVE you guys. Absolutely love you. But due to my busy schedule as a freelance journalist I'm not always able to return messages or board posts. Trust me, I read THEM ALL, but I don't always (in fact I almost never) have time to respond. So please don't feel left out or offended if I don't get back to you. You're not being ignored. If you have a question for ASK CARLYLE, please leave it on the Comment Wall below. It makes it easier for me to find. Thanks for reading and watching guys. Our shadowy masters wouldn't sign our checks otherwise.
All Time Favorite Movies:
The Seven Samurai, Battle Beyond the Stars, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Star Trek 2: the Wrath of Khan, Lord of the Rings, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Man on Fire, Can't Hardly Wait, Sky High, The Dirty Dozen
All Time Worst Movies:
Gummo, The Doom Generation, and about a thousand films that only I and the filmmaker's family have seen. Recent worsts include Daddy Day Camp, Bratz, and Codename: The Cleaner, Witless Protection, Over Her Dead Body, Meet the Spartans, and The Love Guru. And coming soon: Disaster Movie!
Favorite Actors or Actresses:
Right now I'm keeping an eye on Justin Long and Amanda Bynes, both of whom are really great, but are waiting for their BIG HIT to convince everyone else. Jonah Hill is a current fave, and I will watch Samuel L. Jackson read the phonebook, fight snakes or even star in The Man 2. I might not like it...but I'll watch it. Ving Rhames, Kevin Spacey, Edward Norton, George Clooney, Brad Pitt all round out modern all time favorites. I'm also a huge Claude Rains fan, and yes, I'm big into Lee Marvin.

Carlyle

Ask Carlyle: Who should be the next Batman villain?

I get this question A LOT. Mostly as a joke these days (we even got it at the Spill Party Podcast), sure, but we still get it. So I figured I might as well get around to answering it. Truth is, I'm sick to death of all the STANDARD Batman villains. I've seen them done to death. Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Two-Face, Catwoman. How many more incarnations do we need? Here are the 5 different guys I personally want to see in a new batman movie.

5) Someone NEW.

Hey Carlyle I got a movie for your worst of 2010 list. It comes out tomorrow on dvd but I work at a video store and got to see it early. It's called Midgets vs Mascots and it's pretty clear that they were trying to combine Jackass and Borat but failed miserably. Where Jackass and Borat were stupid and offencive they were also really funny but their is not one laugh in this movie, not one. I'm sure it will be in the 3$ bargin bin by the end of the month.

ACOCO QUESTION

Are there any trilogies that y'all have enjoyed, but knew that it could have been better if it were to add additional scenes, alter plot points, and/or added more character development to it?

My choice goes to the classic "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" trilogy because there are deleted scenes that have yet to be released to the public that would have added more depth to the series, such as Raph and Casey's extended fight in an alley, and the professor from the second movie revealing himself to being an utrom, as the original script read.

Hey Carlyle I think I got your first nominee for worst film of 2010. It doesn't come out till the 9th but I work at the video store and got to watch it early it called Midgets vs Mascots. It's pretty clear their idea was to combine Jackass and Borat but where these movies were stupid and offencive they were also really funny. This movie however had stupid and offencive with not one laugh, not one. It was so bad that I couldn't get thru the last ten minutes I got an hour and twenty minutes thru and was so bored and a little angry that this movie was even made that I didn't even care how it ended and tried to save the last brain cells I had left. So if you want to torture yourself check this turd out.

When you and Korey were talking about the iPad/Apple I came across this comic and thought it was hilarious. And I spread the hilarity when I can.

Question: How can one (let's say I) begin a career in reviewing movies? Is there some kind of education, or requirement in doing so?

(Love you work! :))

So, it looks like you were right about Avatar again. It officially crossed $601 million yesterday. We're watching history being made! I wonder how much money it would have made if it were only playing in 2D?
