My Favorite Films of 2012

From looking through the 90+ films I've seen this year, it's immensely encouraging to see how much I've liked so many films this year, and that it got incredibly difficult to narrow down my favorite films this year to ten; some of my honorable mentions are pretty great movies, and have just missed my list. 2011 was a fairly strong year, and 2012 was even better, so I'm hoping the quality continues on in 2013. Honorable Mentions:American Reunion, Arbitrage, Argo, The Avengers,…See More

About Me:
I am a teenaged film buff who doesn't really do much in his free time other than watch movies, talk about movies, and read about movies and movie-related stuff on the internet. I also love music, theatre, and video-taping my own films.
All Time Favorite Movies:
I don't really have an "all-time favorite movie", and it's really kind of difficult for me to just group films in boxes like that. To make things a little more fair, here are some of my favorite movies from the previous years of this century as well as some films I loved that are from the '90s and older, too, just to give you an idea of my general tastes in films:

My favorite film from each year

2000- The Virgin Suicides
2001- Donnie Darko
2002- Adaptation

2007- No Country for Old Men
2008- Synecdoche, New York
2009- Up in the Air
2010- Somewhere
2011- Drive

My Most Anticipated Films of 2012

Well... wow! To my surprise and delight, 2011 has been quite a strong year for movies, definitely better than 2010. Looking at the upcoming films for 2012, I actually see quite a lot of promise. These are some of the movies I'm most looking forward to in 2012. Keep note: It was hard for me to list them in a numbered order, and I don't have a #1 most anticipated out of all the others for 2012, so I just listed them alphabetically.

My Most Anticipated Films of the Fall/Winter Season

2011, surprisingly, has not been a bad year for films in my opinion. The first couple of months were kind of lackluster, but the year got progressively better. A lot of the films this year have more life and energy to them than last year, and I've seen quite a few films that will definitely be on my best-of list at the end of the year. I'm excited to see what the Fall and Winter seasons have in store for us. Here are some of the films that I'm looking forward to in the remainder of…

Hi Bob,

I just wanted to let you know that I finished watching Lost In Translation.

I thought Lost In Translation was a wonderful movie with a nice story written by Sofia Coppola, great acting performances by Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, good directing by Sofia Coppola and a sweet message about two talented people learning that the best thing to do in a city where you know no one or understand anything is to bond in an unexpected but surprising friendship that may not last forever but you will remember forever.

I give Lost In Translation 4 out of 5 stars. A Full Price!!
