My THOR review. Please share your thoughts!

THOR (Image courtesy of comicbookfilm.com)             Coming out of this movie I couldn’t help but get a little more excited for Green Lantern. While these two heroes are from completely different comic book realms, I’ve heard that most of Green Lantern is off-world, which is kind of crazy for such a big summer…See More

9 Days of Halloween Reviews - Movie #5: The Signal

THE SIGNALThis is one of those little gems that you find in your movie travels one late night on some odd day. It’s the kind of movie that you pick up, having never heard of it before, because the summary intrigues you and makes you want to kill a few hours with some R-rated goodness. That’s how I was introduced to The Signal, and I hope that after you read this review you’ll have that same “it can’t hurt” kind of attitude I had when I gave it a watch. While I can’t technically group this in…See More

9 Days of Halloween Reviews - Movie #3: DRAG ME TO HELL

DRAG ME TO HELLSo I’ll be honest, all manly fearlessness aside, when I saw first saw this movie the beginning hour scared the bejesus out of me. From the first scene, things were creepy and just plain spooky. Now the remaining half an hour is another story, but I’ll get into that later. Turn the lights off, turn the sound up, and give this flick a watch to get your blood pumping during the Halloween holiday season. Drag Me to Hell is probably one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in quite some…See More

9 Days of Halloween Reviews - Movie #2: SLITHER

SLITHER

I remember watching Slither a while back, years in fact, and thinking it was a breath of fresh air for the horror/sci-fi genre. Watching it again, and realizing it’s been over four years since this fun monster movie came out, I’ve grown a little less fond of the flick. Nevertheless, I had to throw it into my Halloween picks. It’s good ol’ fashioned monster/comedy mayhem, and it reminded…

yeah i do agree with you. like i said i have been privileged enough to travel to other countries. So i have seen what their perspective on black people are to a certain extent. What i have found is that this problems lies more within whites, asians, and indians who have grown up or been exposed to american culture. While american culture is great in many regards it at times can do some f'uped things to people. Once you get away from that and go to other countries you do not see the racism of black as much. Its really interesting stuff.

Now i am not gangsta by any meaning nor am i carlton-esque (despite the kickass cardigan). what i am is a average person.  I am pretty respectable (or at least i try to be) but even still i am met with resistance in one way or another by asians, indians and whites.  I know you don't speak for every non black person out there but it is something interesting to look at. Even when blacks have all the characteristics you described it is not enough.

Personally i have learned to let these thing roll of my back. I figured if mandela can spend 20+ years in jail for nothing and forgive those who put him there then i can dismiss the comment or actions of non-black people who will never like me because of my race.

my question then to you is do you hold every race to those same standards or is only for black people? i only ask because i wonder if you would say the same thing about seeing a group of hillbillies or rednecks that you said about gangsta dressed blacks having a college education.

Thank you for the Add Blue. Of course i'm ok with adding a Spill Crew member. I see you've hooked up with Metal Virgin. She's the woman for this group. I'm going to look to do another get together here in DC sometime next month. Any plans to attend or have a get together yourself?

I really urge to you finish reading the Shadow of series. While I love Speaker of the dead and its following sequels, I really consider the "Shadow of" series to be the true sequels of Ender's Game, even if they don't have Ender in them.

And no I haven't read anything from them, but if they remind you of the Ender Series I should give them a reading.
At 6:36am on October 5, 2010, Delphiki said…
Actually, all of the Ender's Game sequels are great. I'll admit that the whole tone of the books from Speaker of the Dead onwards is very different, but they are great in their own way.

The "Shadow of" sequels (the series centering on Bean) are more like Ender's Game in tone and are a great read. My only complain with that particular series of books is that they made Bean a bit more interesting than Ender, almost to the point where you ask "why didn't they just get Bean to be their commander?"

That's pretty awesome man. Did you read Ender in Exile? That book was such a great ending to the series.

I hear there is a comic book of Ender's Game but I never got around to find it. Have you ever come across it?
