I just thought of a cartoon series concept for the Spill.com crew.

I just thought of a cartoon series concept for the Spill.com crew.

Like, the first episode would open with Leon's origin, and he'll be the black son of Adam and Eve, born amidst dinosaurs, then a quick battle in his teens, wielding a sword, battling a wizard, then a cut to his arrival at Ellis Island, very Cassidy via Preacher...

After a few more origin scenes for the other guys, we've got Korey approaching each future Spill.com member like Agent Graves...

In future episodes, there'd… Continue

Reasons to see TROLL 2:

if you despise the appearance of trolls
if pissing on the dinner table is the only way you can organize a hunger strike

if you forgot what 80s clothing looks like
if you don’t know how to spell “goblin” backward
if you relate to people whose lives are led by an audible soundtrack

Allow me to be pompous...

If you're curious about what atrocious filth I've merely begun to-- I'm too lazy to give a damn, right now, so just click on the link if you want to.

Spare time, dude. I'm using it, instead of wasting it on reading shit posted online that I don't care about and whining like a little bitch because the precious internet's been sullied by another foul-mouthed piece of shit teenager. What is t… Continue

The Machinist

SPOILER ALERT:
The Machinist is a bad knock-off of Fight Club and American Psycho, and I'm not just saying that because Christian Bale is in it. What's great about the multiple personality "slash" psycho scenario is that when it's done well, it'll blow peoples' minds. There's no solid plot to go along with the movie, so all it is is a guessing game as to when to expect the next twist, which is really cool, when you have a fucking plot. I found myself getting really bored wit… Continue

Body Heat

This one is difficult for me to pin. The first third is noir, with well paced dialogue, slow (as shit) scenes, jazz music, and predictable moments. At least there wasn't a shitty narration. I do love the music of the first act. I became sick to hear it give way to the orchestra instrumentals.
The second third is a murder plot, a little more interesting, actually humorous in some instances, and introducing stylized screenshots that made artful (and incredibly impossible) use of reflections.
The l… Continue

Notorious, Vertigo, and Rope

I have seen these already, and I'd like to comment on what they all have in common before getting into specific ups and downs.

Beautiful cinematography, of course, with practical use of the quality of the footage. Instead of obscured shapes in natural shadows due to the inability to rely on color, Hitchcock makes use of the audience's knowledge of real-life settings to shape an environment around the characters so that their actions and props aren't lost, but focused upon with subtle placements… Continue

Big Trouble in Little China

I expect this to be funny. I expect to laugh. Will I have these things? Eighties comedies are things to be wary of. They have distorted the minds of practical men, and I do not envy their tastes. When a friend tells me that an eighties comedy is good, what else can I do but find out for myself?

So, Russell's playing an idiot. It's nice to see, after witnessing his father-figure image in a shitty movie and his utterly boring character in Death Proof.
I don't think I'll ever get over period… Continue

Blackbook

I was very curious to see what the guys on Spill were talking about when they mentioned Blackbook during their Resistance review, so I started doing some searching.

Goddamn it. I know that shit like this happened all the time, and I should've expected this, but I didn't. And I feel a serious loss for the characters. Great characters. Great direction. I attatched myself immediately to the story, and I felt a certain amount of despair to see them die.

MONKEYBACON

Here is an example of the distributive property of algebra.
bluesy intsrumentals = awesome
Monkeybacon = bluesy intsrumentals
Therefor, Monkeybacon is an awesome collection of bluesy instrumentals.

A little more accurately: bluesy instrumentals consisting of wonderful mixes of guitars and synth-sounds.
My recent ventures into modern techo-rock, trance, ambiance, and electro-jazz have lead me to this amazing site.

The Graduate and Sunset Blvd.

A friend requested that I write about a few movies.
I'll get to work on the others once I've seen them.

The Graduate:

Strangely enough, I couldn't stand the main character. A pushover. A numbnut grad. Someone who thought nothing of any of the work that he'd obviously never questioned the necessity of doing, and had absolutely NO IDEA what to do with the earnings. He is the caricature of the zombie members of the babyboomer generation. Jukeboxes, Cadillacs, Bond movies and Star Wars... he is th… Continue

If memory serves, I was comparing the use of Cruz in Vanilla Sky, an American adaptation of Open your Eyes (Abre los ojos) where she plays the same character.

In Vanilla Sky, Cruz is used as eye candy. She's supposed to be cute, a little naive, and there's always a silent 10 sec. spot where she smiles. In the original Spanish version, she's a socialite bitch. She's superficial and she is a social butterfly that likes to party so of course, she's more of a conquest than a possession.

I think that covers it. Great review. I have to organize my thoughts before sounding off to do it justice.

Love the av!

It's all good. Humor is definitely subjective. I'll personally watch just about anything, just doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy it.

As long as it's not a direct-to-video Paris Hilton movie. I've never been able to sit through one of those godawful things.

I don't find Woody Allen films entertaining. I think his comedies are unfunny, and most of his films don't seem to have much of a plot to follow that makes up for that. Others can disagree, and I'm perfectly fine with that.

Incidentally, I disagree with Carlyle when it comes to Kevin Smith. I think his only entertaining film is Clerks, and even that I don't like very much.

Fair enough, Blobguy. You can always ask us questions in the League Lounge either in our personal FAQs or if you want to take a shot of it being answered on the show, in the current "questions for leog" forum when it pops up.
