Profile Information

Hometown:
Fresno, CA
About Me:
Born and raised in central California. Grew up on weekend Creature Feature matinees, Jim Shooter era Marvel comics, Atari and Saturday morning cartoons. Practically lived in Video rental stores during the 80's. In Jr High and High School I hung out with the geeks and freaks. Russian language club, chess club, a very early pro-environmental student group. I was a nerd without the high IQ. I just barely got through school by the skin of my teeth. But I never do well with things I don't enjoy, and school wasn't fun for an overweight kid who liked Star Trek and comic books.
In the early 90s a whole array of health issues began popping up in my life. I left college a few credits shy of an Associate's degree in Liberal Arts (I had no clue what to major in).
I always seem to be a few years behind everyone else. My family we're among the last on the block to get cable tv in the 80s, and among the last to finally get a VCR. I was still using an Atari 5200 when most kids had an NES. I didn't get my first DVD player until 1999 or so. By that point I had a massive VHS collection. All of those were sold at the swap meet in the mid 2000s to help me get through a rough spot financially. Literally hundreds of movies, including the entire available Disney catalog (to that point) were sold for a buck a piece. How many thousands had I spent on them? I don't really like to think about it.
I got my first computer in 2003. An e-Machines desktop. Which promptly died after only a few months of use. In 2005 my mother passed away from colon cancer, and I used $1300 of the insurance money to get an HP Pavilion desktop. Best PC I've ever had. It lasted for years, but in 2009 the hard drive died... now I have a Compaq Presario desktop. Not as powerful as my old HP, but I love it anyway.
I've been collecting DVDs for several years now. My collection is rather small compared to a lot of the collections I've seen on Youtube and around the Net. But then again, I have a very limited budget for non-essentials, and it's divided between paperback novels, comics, pc related gadgets and DVDs. I mostly collect horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action-adventure titles. The pride of my collection thus far, are my Toho films. I have every Godzilla film available on Region 1 DVD, and most other Toho sci-fi titles.
I presently live in a 1-bedroom apartment, with my 2 adult nephews (Yes, we're cramped).
All Time Favorite Movies:
Dead Clowns, Farmhouse, Slither, Camp Blood Trilogy, Trick R' Treat, Return of the Living Dead, Squirm, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Killjoy, Tremors, Waxwork, Beaks, Leprechaun, Dr. Giggles, Mountaintop Motel Massacre, Ice Cream Man, Killer Klowns from outer Space, The Howling, Carny, Komodo, Frankenfish, Gargoyles, Troll, Ghoulies, Critters, Dawn of the Dead, Razortooth, The Crazies, Rawhead Rex, From Dusk 'til Dawn, Grizzly, Mammoth, Colin, Pontypool, The Mad, Wyvern, Last of the Living, Zombie Apocalypse, House of 1000 Corpses, I Am Omega, Trailer Park of Terror, John Carpenter's Vampires
All Time Worst Movies:
Generally anything the mainstream press and most people rave about. The so-called "classics of our time". Black Swan and the King's Speech are the most recent examples. Pure crap. Give me Bad Channels or Hamburger The Motion Picture any day.
