Brave Japanese Trailer

I found this trailer on youtube and it is way better then any trailer Disney has released in the states. It actually makes the film appear dark, with some really cool Celtic visuals. I really have high expectations for this one, and would love Pixar to deliver a great Celtic Scottish fairytaleSee More

It was the comment where you stated that if I believed a certain way that I was 'an idiot'...well, that still hits the personal mark because the commentary was that I DID believe a certain way. I know it can be hard to make sure people understand your viewpoint without coming off as raving (trust me on this, it's my daily struggle) which is why I try to put as much effort into remembering to comment on the subject than on the person, as I do in making my case.

Oh, I don't mean to imply that Twilight is as good. Just meant that when it comes to an "event film", there are going to be people that watch it 10-20 years down the road saying "Hell, I remember when this came out" type of way.

And "event films" tend to be the big-sweeping-epic films like Lord of the Rings. But any time there is a fanbase already created before the movie is made, it's an event. In the case of Twilight it was an event film due to the fans of the books. Look at Sex and the City. It was an "event film" due to the fans of the TV-show, but it too was not a big sweeping epic film. And with Sex and the City, it did just like Twilight did. It came out, all the fans saw it and made a big deal of it being made, then it dropped out of theaters in a couple of weeks after making it's money. Was it good? Oh god no, it completely sucked. But at the same time, all the fans went to go see the event, and we non-fans had to hear about it.

PS, yeah, but that's just it. For you, you'll stop and watch the old Batman. For the fans of Twilight, they will stop and watch it when it's on. On the other hand, you'll walk away from Twilight and they will walk away from Batman. Me? I'd rather watch the Batman movie. =)

Yeah, but you see my point. It's something that you'll watch whenever someone pops in the player.... but not something that you'll pick up right away and play on your own. Is it "still good"? Not really, but it's not the worst thing in the world to watch either. lol

Yeah, but you really can't blame Twilight for making money. I mean, it really is an "event film". Is it good, or deserves to be remembered in 10-20 years? Of course it doesn't. But it's an event to go to that film and say that you saw it at least once.

Just look at the 80's Batman for example. 20 years later, and everyone basically says it sucks major donkey ass... But at the time, everyone just HAD to go see it.
