Alexander's Top 5 Movies to watch on/around Halloween

Happy Halloween Spill!!!

It probably would've been smarter to post this ahead of time, but since it is Halloween I thought it would be cool to list 5 movies that I like to watch around this time and to see if you agree with me or not. Keep in mind that this is a list of films I've seen, not a list of general films (for example, I haven't seen Psycho, The Exorcist, John Carpenters The Thing, or any of the Paranormal Activity films) The list will also…

Godzilla filmmaking 101: How to make the Godzilla reboot right

I am a huge Godzilla fan. I know all the monsters, have seen all the movies and I own all three of the modern video games that came out. With Legendary Pictures Godzilla reboot still in development (most likely not meeting it's 2012 intended release date) I figured that I would run down how the movie should be made from the prospective of a fan. Since there are 28 movies total, and I've seen them all more then twice, I have a good idea on the structure of these movie and how they should be…

Hi Alex.. There is no limit to the number of people in your group for the Avengers event.  There is a minimum, but not a maximum.  I'm answering you in both places to make sure you get it :-)

In a big way, that's how I felt about District 9 getting nominated for Best Picture... it was just "To fill out the numbers, but never really had a chance".

The biggest clue to me that District 9 (And others) weren't going to win Best Picture Oscar was the "Best Director" category. How many movies have been nominated as "Best Picture" but didn't also get a "Best Director" nomination as well? Yes, it's true that a lot of Oscars went to Best Picture for one film, and Best Director for another film. But almost across the board, every movie that has won Best Picture had a nomination for Best Director. Once I saw District 9 nominated for Best Picture, but not nominated for Best Director, I almost knew automatically that it wasn't going to win.

Good point. I also hate it when people focus on the MOVIES and ignore what those movies CHANGED in film-making.

Star Wars (if you love it or hate it) completely altered the WAY that movies were made, and that is something that SHOULD be respected by everyone on one level or another. Yet, the completely over-exposed movies, characters, soundtrack, toys, and spin-offs......

Well, the "focus" of that whole franchise appears to be "Make more money" and not focused on the "What they did to movies as a whole". Which is sad, because in truth they did more in the way movies are MADE than they did in selling toys. Look at the figures from just the ILM involved movies and you'll see that the figures from the movies outweighs the figures from the toys.

I don't like Jackson's King Kong, because it's too long, I don't like Jack Black, there were points that I thought were pointless and useless... like the slipping on Ice part, and honestly it came across as a "pet-project" type of film, where he just wanted to tell the WHOLE movie and not cut it down a bit and remove the unneeded parts.

While I understand why some people DO like the movie, for me it just didn't work. Not saying the movie itself is a horrible film that should rot in hell like Glitter or anything, just that it completely missed the target with me.
