An example would be Brendan Fraser, who generally is in a lot of bad movies, but who I think has the potential to act well in a good movie. Hopefully, that should get the ball rolling.

Which recent games do you think hold the most influence over how games are made, and what they're like today? For me, Grand Theft Auto and World of Warcraft come to mind, although I'm not that big of a gamer at all, so I'm betting you guys will be…Continue

This is just a sort of short review on the movie NEDs, which I saw last night.
NEDs is, in short a coming-of-age story of a smart youngster in Glasgow. Directed and written by Peter Mullan, an actor turned-director known for playing roles such as Syd in Children of Men and Swanney in Trainspotting, tells the story of John McGill (played by Gregg Forrest and Conor McCarron respectively) as he grows up around the different people of 1970s Glasgow.
Most…

I just finished watching 'Mongol', by Sergei Bodrov. The movie is basically the origin story of one of history's greatest conquerors, Genghis Khan. The movie covers the story of how he came to conquer Mongolia, and the many struggles he faced along the way. Therein, we see the hardship faced by young Temudgin (Genghis' name before he became Khan), as he and his family face treachery, he is hunted down, and as he faces his mortal enemy and equal in battle, Jamukha.
The film…

Paul Emmanuel said… O.K, I'll get you the first three films on Monday and then the other two afterwards. Also, remember Requiem For A Dream!
Paul Emmanuel said… Yeah, that's good.
Paul Emmanuel said… Sorry man, I can't do Saturday as my cousins are coming round then. I can do any day next week though. Is there any day next week you can do?
Paul Emmanuel said… Hey man. France was good but it was too hot though. Plus I didn't have Internet access for a whole week and I missed some of the Olympics. I went to Disneyland and saw the Eiffel Tower but the majority of the holiday was spent visiting relatives. I didn't hear about the French riots. I'll look on the BBC website for more info.
I watched a few good films. I enjoyed Drive and I remember you saying something about the second half being really violent or something like that. The violence was really brutal and graphic. The elevator scene where they kiss and then he stamps on that guys head straight after is awesome.
Aliens is awesome and you should definitely get round to watching it. Not as good as Alien though. Yeah, I'd be up for seeing it this week or the next.
Paul Emmanuel said… What time is the screening?
Paul Emmanuel said… Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing it again but it depends when we go. Yeah, the film draws a lot more from Batman Begins than on the Dark Knight.
Paul Emmanuel said… I would rate it 7 out of 10, so a low Full Price. It may border on a High Matinée. I didn't like some aspects of the film such as Nolan using some cliches. Bane was menacing but wasn't a patch on Heath Ledger's Joker. In the Dark Knight, I loved the scenes with the Joker in but this wasn't the same for Bane. At some points of the film, even in IMAX, I couldn't pick out what he was saying. I think his voice kinda put me off him. The running time was also a factor in my criticism. The film is slow at first but comes into its own after a while.
Aside from that, I did enjoy Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt performances. The action scenes were cool as expected and you see the return of some old characters. I hope I haven't spoiled anything for you! I didn't think this was as good as I'd have expected it to be. The Dark Knight > The Dark Knight Rises IMO.
Paul Emmanuel said… I've got an idea for a discussion for the Shootin' the Shit forum. It's 'Have you ever been caught masturbating/watching porn?' There's bound to be some funny stories that people can share about their experiences on being caught watching porn/masturbating. It's a bit immature but it has the potential to be funny. I don't know if it's been done before. What do you think?
Paul Emmanuel said… So I listened to Episode 17 last night and I thought it was pretty good. I thought that they would be just be reviewing new films out on blu-ray/DVD but they didn't! I remember them talking about Born on the Fourth of July which was pretty freaky because I had just watched that the night before. I liked the podcast because I don't tend to buy/see new releases as soon as they come to DVD, so it was good that they talked about a wide range of films, new and old.
Paul Emmanuel said… Hey man. Sorry, I completely forgot about Remote Viewing but right now, I'm downloading some episodes (Episodes 17 & 18) straight to my iPod. I'll be listening to them tonight so I'll tell you what I think tomorrow.
I'm also getting back to listening to their movie reviews as well since it's the holidays. So much free time! I bought Rambo: First Blood today for about £2 so I'll be watching that soon.
