Here's the discussion thread for the critically acclaimed show, Mad Men

Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City. The show centers on Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper, as well as those in his life, both in and out of the office.

Just brought the first season DVD to my room, time to start watching it.
What do you think so far, Red?
I'm up to episode 8 so far, and it was interesting, yet a little dull, now its starting to pick up a lot more. It feels like a soap opera, but that seems insulting to it. If it is, it's one that I don't mind getting into what happens to each character.
But soap operas are poorly written... :P

Anyway, yeah, while I didn't find it dull, I can see why some will. However, I definitely think it will win you over by the end of the season.
Do you always wanna kick the shit out of that used to play Connor on Angel? I've got the first season and I really like it, but I really wanna smack him. Does he ever get better?
I really don't have that problem but I'm pretty sure he improves along with the rest of the cast. Not that the acting is at all bad, but I think they all really hit that stride with their characters by at least season 2, including Pete.

Plus, Pete can do the Charleston (possible SPOILERS in linked video)

Season Finale...talk to me. Let's talk about the bomb of Don getting married and his wife's prophetic words. Wooo!
What the crap man! I mean...I like his fiance, but that caught me off guard. What the crap man!?! You know what? I guess I did feel something coming during the episode where Don is worried about getting his Beatles tickets the whole time and the very last scene he looks at what's her face as a Beatles song plays.
I believe I saw one episode when it first aired on T.v., what really struck my curiosity is the fact that it is set in the 1960s. I'm fascinated about the 50s early 60s - not sure why. Anyways, I didn't follow it on T.v, although I bought the first season last month. I was a bit disappointed that each disk only had three episodes on it, but anyways. It took me two days to finish the season.

I feel as though I worked myself up over nothing. I like the style of the movie, most of the drama. The only thing that bugged me was all the cheating going on, and it seemed to revolve around the cheating rather than anything else. Now, I am no guru on the entire plot of the show, but what is this really supposed to be about? Because I am a bit confused.

I thought it was supposed to be about (NOT SOLELY BASED ON) the struggle of women working with business men. Yet it seems as though again, it is simple based on the business mens' private lives. I am not going to just throw this show out, because I am strongly hoping the next seasons are better. And that the connection between the characters become easier to relate to.

Perhaps that is why I do not get it. I cannot relate... *shrugs*

Not to mention, all that damn smoking makes me want to become a chain smoker haha!

I just finished season 3 on Netflix and that easily could've been the series finale with how it was treated.  Everybody's story kind of felt like is was leading up to that moment.  Very excited to keep watching and catch up so I can watch the current season.
