Just finished season 4, and just when I thought nothing could compare to season 1, they come at me with that ending.  This show is addicting, and it's interesting to see the evolution of the Dexter character.

So who here is a fan?

Has anyone here read the dexter novels?  Are they a worthwhile endeavor?

Please, no sidekick. Dexter just needs to off this woman already. I don't think she'd become super clingy and be another Lila, but last night's episode, even though pretty average, had some pretty good twists. Masuka being the tattoo expert was one thing and I figured Laguerta wouldn't be cheating. How many times has Dexter thrown us curveballs like that?

Meanwhile, looks like Doakes Quinn is still on Dexter's case.
Laguerta should have been cheating, at least to save Batista's job. Geeze, there needs to be something there.

I really want what's-her-name gone. I'm not very interested in Julia Stiles character. Her airport freakout made it look like she was going to stay there, but then she made it through so it was like ok, well she's starting to cope. Now, it goes back to groaning.

Also, about the Santa Maria guys, or whatever that cult is called, I honestly thought that female cop was going to be one of them or associated with the criminals somehow other than that being her neighborhood.
I felt the same way about the female cop. I was also expecting that there might be something not quite right about the "perfect" nanny. I guess this season is all about playing with your expectations.
Robo-cop!!!
Yeah, that freaked me out XD

Also, I was so expecting Dexter to start singing Rainbow Connection at the end :P
What I'd like to see, is Dexter finally getting an equal counterpart; someone that I could genuinely like and invest my interest in. I'd love to be torn between the two opposing characters and I'm sure it would add a lot of good tension to the show. Seeing how Quinn is now going after Dexter, I'm left feeling a bit disappointed. I don't like Quinn, just like I didn't like Doakes, because they're both rather unlikable characters. I don't know, this season has been quite average so far, with the Batista - LaGuerta marital problems and the whole Lumen storyline. Though I'm curious to see where it goes; I just wouldn't want her to become completely obsessed with Dexter.
Found this thought it was pretty fun.

This new episode was a complete mess. Relationship drama overload! Everything was just too chaotic.

And I actually found myself laughing at the title "Everything is Illumenated". That's so cheesy!
I completely disagree. I thought it was the second best episode of the series.
However, every one of the sub-plots sucked.
I thought it was okay, but this season has been weak so far. It's on par with season three. Not to say it's not a good show though. It is, but Michael C. Hall can only do so much.

I'm beginning to think the show is really missing Clyde Phillips.
I thought it was really laughable. It was weird, the stuff with the side-characters was actually more interesting than with Michael C. Hall and Julia Stiles. I mean, so much of the stuff that happened in that episode was so sloppily done. And at the end how the tortured guy CALLED THE OTHER RAPISTS WHILE 10 FEET AWAY FROM DEXTER?!

Come on...
This season is something near everyday television but done well. That is not bad but really not great. Season three is looking like a godsend at this point.
