Just to let you know, don't get caught up in this swine flu crap. It's actually less likely to catch and less deadly than normal flu. Some jerks just wanted a story for their 'news'.

So let me get this straight....you guys want me to go there...most likely catch it...and while yes, it is very much treatable, I'll prolly be fucked up by the time the party starts.

That sounds awesome. Except for the whole thing about being fucked up and sick during the party.

Look, I ain't a dumbfuck. I know this shit ain't as deadly as people make it out to be...but IS true is that...it spreads faster than the usual flu, and that getting ANY kind of flu, well, pretty much fucking sucks.

That's for trying to comfort me...but, that doesn't change the fact that I just generally don't wanna get ANY kind of sickness, infection, disease, or other unwanted shit.

Dude, we live here in Austin (or at least I do). This stuff is much harder to catch than the normal flu and is much less deadly, if even. The worst you'll have is somewhere between a dizzying fever, to a headache, or nothing at all. Everyone I know who has caught it is still going to school here and doing their normal lives.

based on the numbers, it looks like you have a better chance of dying from anal warts than you do catching the pig flu (3845 confirmed deaths worldwide from anal warts in 2007, the most recent year for which there is data. compare that to 2099 confirmed cases of swine flu as of this posting*). the news is grossly exagerating the situation to get people to tune in. people go crazy, thinking they are going to die. they start screaming "think of the children!", then the government agencies start reacting to the hysteria, which gets repeated on the news...

it's a cycle of fearmongering that has yet to yield any kind of relevant information to protect you and your family from anything... if you are really concerned, i think home depot has some of those 9/11 tarp and duct tape survival packs...

also, that party is a couple of months away. there is bound to be a missing white girl, or some kind of celebrity drug case that will push this to the back of the line where it belongs... there is nothing to worry about. except normal flu... and anal warts.

*anal warts data made up for the sake of humor.
