Ask a former Game Store retailer
HIYA FOLKS! Loyal spill member This Badass Dragon wants to talk to ya for a second.
Its a High schoolers dream job and a fanboys wet dream: working at a video game retail store. It seems like a great job except for the RETAIL part.
So to give you a pretty accurate feeling on what its like selling games to people for a whole year, Old Badass Dragon here will try his best on telling you the actual truth on what it like to work as a game store clerk. So please ask away........
NOTE: If anybody else worked in game retail also ,or retail in general, feel free to answer too. The more the easier it is for me to refrain from cursing.......as much.

What was the absolute worst moment (or what were some of the worst moments, if you prefer) in your career working at a video game retail store?

It was on a Saturday afternoon when I was literally minutes away from getting off of my shift. I was about ot punch out until this girl walked into the store and all of the staff (just two guys and my manager) couldn't stop staring at her. So for kicks they decide to let me talk to her so they would see if I had some "mad game" (there's a pun in that but they where too stupid to realize it).
So we ended up talking for the next 20 minutes and it was.......intresting to say the least ng to her, my co-workers were air humping behind her, bumpng into me, and making the pussy licking gesture. Now this wouldn't be bad unless you have customers coming in and out of the store while they see you doing this crap. Eventually I got seriously tired of this and I just asked if she wanted to go out sometime: she just smiled and walked away, thats it. All eyes were on me and I was forced to explain what exactly happened. When I did everyone started to make fun of me. Now it wasn't really bad but my manager had the audacity to yell at me and say "This is why girls turn gay because of you". The worst part about that was that if I would of cursed his ass out I'M the one that would get written up for that.
So to sum it down: I got made fun of by not hooking up with a girl in a video game store
But about a month later I meet my girlfriend (now just friend) at the store while my manager was going on xvidoes (thats a porn site) in the back room.

i got fired form a wendys for very close to the same story only i fucking hit the son of a bitch that was doing the air humping because i had liked the girl sense high school. and that bastard pulled that shit knowing how much i wanted to date her and how hard it was for me to ask. some friend he talked me into asking her just so he could humiliate me. he felt pretty stupid when he relised that i wasn't a pussy i just don't like hurting people because its hard to stop some times. fat dose not mean week.

ok a real question. how many times did you have collectors or whom ever, assume that you were there friend because you worked in a game store. only to have them say some thing along the lines of "what you cant hook me up, thought we were cool". Or any thing along those lines.

That only happens when we give them a shitty membership card or whenever you had that customer that bought $5 or lower used games, then again that almost always happen the same time. In other words: all the damn time, ironically not on Christmas. The worst excuse for why came from my my manager. He pulled the "Black owned business" (because every employee there was black) card on customers who bitched about the prices.
He said that since this place is a black owned business, it we couldn't lower the prices because it would not make us any profit what so ever (Que the violin).
