Hector Fernando Andrade JR. II posted a statusThat's right! We're back to doing proper LEOGs (except for the fact that we're recording this episode on Friday and posting it Saturday morning) starting with a topic:
Updated Fairytales.
The League of Extremely Ordinary Gentlemen has been looking for an excuse to talk about Fables for years. And now with two major motion pictures about Snow White and two popular TV series with a fairytale theme, I'd say we have that opening.
The only thing we need to do this episode right is some good ol' audience participation. Hit me up with some good questions. You still remember how to do that, right?

Fairy Tales and Fables are very popular right now. Why do you think that this story form has died out. The Grimm brothers croaked in the middle 1800's. Or do you think that there are modern Fairy Tales? If so, what would be and example?

Permalink Reply by 3rd World Villain on June 1, 2012 at 5:54am Hi Leon! here's a question for the LEOG...
can i know any of your thoughts on the GI JOE 2 postponement?
Any of you looking forward to it?
I HATED the first movie, it looked like it copied all the current sci-fi action trends (iron man & transformers), it had silly stunts and dumb action. It did NOT look like a GI JOE movie.... more of a star wars prequel - michael bay hybrid
but the trailers of part 2 looked like what a GI JOE movie is supposed to be. As much as the first movie was shit, I was immensely excited for this new one
I am wondering if any of the LEOG crew shares this opinion
you think the movie, in its original form, is good.... and putting it through 3D make-overs and additional reshoots will make it worse?
any of you think john chu was trying to make a less silly GI JOE movie and the reshoots will force the movie to divert back to its silliness?
thanks for hearing me out guys! Lotsa love from the Philippines!

How relevant are the messages or lessons of past fables to contemporary times? For example, Little Red Riding Hood as a message for teenage girls to keep up that anti-slut defense, The Emperor’s New Clothes as a fairly accurate depiction of Barack Obama, or Korey Coleman, and The Ugly Duckling as a perfect allegory for the Columbine shooters.
Thanks for answering my question!

I've got a simple question. I've been wanting to get into Fables but can't really decipher where I should start. Any suggestions for the best stories in Fables to show to a newcomer?

Many of these updated Fairy Tail films we've seen are trying to make the female protagonist stronger. Rather than having them be frail and needing a man to save them, they now are the ones saving themselves. I think this is a great turn and look forward to more films like this. So my question to you is, which classic fairy tail female protagonist do you think should be updated to be a stronger more positive roll model for young girls?

Does Sherlock count? If it does, please discuss at length. Thank You so much and Long Live the League!

Do you guys know of any video games that have utilized the classic fairy tale stories to great effect? Two that come to my mind are Kingdom Hearts and American McGee's Alice. Thank You So Much and Long Live the League!

when it comes fairy tales what do you think is the reason that people just turns always when it comes to fables. becuase i always picture that Fables are the motion comic book probem with the whole its all aim for kids. is it because it's all diseny falt of the cartoon films that they have done back in the 40s.
