In honor of Meryl Streep winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in "The Iron Lady"...um, actually that was one of the few Oscar wins that I violently disagreed with this year...

Oh well, it was still inspiring enough for the League of Extremely Ordinary Gentlemen to dedicate this week's show to all of our favorite strong heroines and TOUGH BROADS.

I don't know how many of you have had a chance to see HAYWIRE or read 'Jennifer Blood' but the'yre at the top of my recommendations.

Also, hot off of their world tour and appearance on the Conan O'Brien Show, our friends from THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS will be stopping by.

Remember, if you're anywhere near the Austin area this weekend you should come to the Staple! Independent Media Expo where you can see The Intergalactic Nemesis and Master Pancake Theater perform, meet some of the best indie comics creators in the business and hangout with random LEOGers.

Okay, hit us with your questions.

good point. I was just curious if there was any other similar moments (like her going back for the cat) in comics or movies.

I don't know about action heroins... but every horror victim who falls do to shoes...

This has come up several times and i think cyrus did says "Fuck that" once but he has also said several times he would of hated her if she didn't. I liked that she went back for the cat anyway I don't think it was poorly written it fit into her character and that no one left behind mentality.

Dear LEOG,

Given this week's topic and the past episode of the Walking Dead (you guys need a Dead Head segment, like you had had with Lost), what is the League opinion of the debate between Lori and Andrea about a woman's place in the zombie acopolypse?  While Andrea argued for a equal role as the men in fighting and defending the homestead, Lori took the side of the homemaker attmepting to return a sense on normalicy and stability to world gone insane.

Dear League,

In your guys' opinion, Does the fact that these characters are women make them stronger, because of our worlds rich history of sexism, or are the characters significant because of how strong they truly are?

Thanks,

Long Live the League

Dear Leog

Hack/Slash on the cover just appears to be a t&a comic. However it is so much more. Are there any other comics that just appear to be t&a, but are so much more?

Long Live the LEAGUE

Funny story. I asked my sister for Hack/Slash for my birthday, and she almost didn't get it for me because she thought it was pornography from the cover art. She said to me "I'm your cool older sister but I can't buy you porn." Thankfully she mentioned this to her boyfriend soon to be husband. He read the synopsis and told her it wasn't porn and that it was in the same vein as Buffy.

My mother would have thrown the book in the trash.

Hello LEOG and LEOG ladies, Zim here with a question for ya

Women not woman like Cyrus says are without a doubt the most important people in the world who are beautiful, strong and independent and we would not exist without them. So I ask you all who are the most influential women in your lives and how do they inspire you?

Thank you and God bless women

LEOG,

Haywire, the Resident Evil, and Underworld movies have shown that badass female leads are on the rise. Likewise in games, Chell, Jade (from "Beyond Good and Evil"), and female Shepard who enforce strength over sexiness. Hunger Games, Dragon Tattoo -- the examples go on and on, but they're mostly recent.

Question:
Hardcore chicks are obviously hot right NOW (no pun intended), but does the rash of so many hitting at once mean this could be a passing fad? It happened with blaxploitation, greek heroes and boy bands - is it possibly happening to females this time?

Unfortunately that pic is actually of Jamie Koeppe not Carano

LEOG, with that Blue Magic! (...think about it)

Historically, ladies in videogames have been hyper-sexual eye candy. Before that, they were seldom more than hapless victims and trophy vaginas. Lara Croft's tits not withstanding, only recently have heroines in games been getting their due.

Question:
Books, movies, and TV have forefronted strong women for years. Why has gaming taken so long to catch up? (for MORE than just sex-appeal, I mean.)

- HH
