Uh-oh, a subject-specific Leog. What that means is, if your question isn't about Vertigo comics, this isn't the right place to ask so please don't. And if you do, then we shall mock you. Without mercy.
I am a relatively new listener, and have been reading comics for a few months now. I have not read any Vertigo comics, but love the movie adaptations of V for Vendetta and Stardust. My question is: How do those two movies compare to the comics? Thanks if you answer, and if not, Long live the League anyways!
While catching up on some Vertigo comics recently, I've noticed that many comics are drawn in a very storybook-oriented style. Mark Buckingham's work on Fables is the most obvious example, but it extends to other titles like House of Mystery and new series The Unwritten. Even the finished series Y: The Last Man, uses lots of thick lines and bold colors, one of the style's hallmarks. There's no question that the style is engaging, but you'd think that a line dedicated to very dark fantasy horror would focus at least to some extent on very graceful, detailed, horrific artwork. I'm not seeing a lot of that in current Vertigo work. What do you think of this trend, and how does it measure up to significant art trends in the past (Vertigo or otherwise)?
I'm really interested into getting into Vertigo comics but when I ask people what I should read to get myself into the whole Vertigo Comics universe, I get so many answers. So, I will ask you great people...as a young brother of 21 what Vertigo comic book should I read to get me into the Vertigo universe. A comic book that basically tells me what the entire Vertigo universe is all about.
Yours Truly,
The Devil That Never Cries.
PS. You guys gotta stop interrupting Kristin. I never hear enough of the beautiful melody that is her voice.
i'm half way thru Preacher and Y so can you please not spoil these or any other books, as i'm guessing most vertigo books suffer from spoilers more than your standard Marvel or DC books.
Now i know Fable may not be a good choice for making a movie but what are your thoughts on a Jack of Fable movie maybe like the book itself having 3 movie made about him with a different story everytime. Btw new listener and first time questioner.
So I'm throwing two questions around, Cyrus. Feel free to abandon the weakest.
Which of you have read The Invisibles? For those of you who have, do you think it still has as much "change the world" energy and deep meaning as it did in the late 90s?
And does anyone else remember John Smith from 2000AD doing Doctor Fate in a comic called Scarab?
Dear ordinary Gentlemen ,and Extraordinary Ladies what is your favorite scene in the Sandman Series mine is when martian the man hunter batman ,and superman go to the Funeral of a specific character and batman and superman talk about their dream of them being actors on a cheesy tv show and martian the man hunter replies I've never had that dream
Oh great and mighty League, I've sad it a few times before and I'll say it again: Thankyou for getting me into Preacher, it was the best 120 some odd bucks I've ever spent. But now that I am out of the working force and back into school, I can't go spending the cash like crazy (who can?), so I was wondering what your all's thoughts where on these titles: Y The Last Man, 100 Bullets and American Virgin? The covers caught my eye, but I never really thumbed through em'. Help me out here LEOG.
