If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Steven Lara posted a statusWelcome to the Anime Corner. Eventually I'll come up with a better name for this and the segment.
ANYWAY!
Here's how this is going to work:
I have a segment to fill. While God knows I have enough old anime and manga to ramble on about, we also want a certain amount of direction and (godhelpusall) fan input. This means you get to ask questions in this thread only. During my segment, I will pick ONE question to answer. Since I'm the one who has to explain my answer to the rest of the podcast, this had better be one damn interesting question or else I'll be illuminating you all on old-school shoujo manga and anime..
That's right. Bring the good questions or the next four segments are going to be about The Rose of Versailles, SWAN, From Eroica with Love and Brother Dear Brother.
I will also be playing favorites. My views on Naruto and Bleach are well known. You can safely assume that unless I get knocked on the head and wake up from a coma with a completely different personality that I'm not gonna answer many (if any) questions about them.
In the mean time I'll be doing my best to bring to light the good stuff that many, if not most of you, have been missing.
GO MY MINIONS! QUESTION LIKE THE WIND!

I saw that you guys are doing a Western theme this week on LEOG and if you're doing an Anime Corner, might I suggest checking out a short 3-volume manga series called Gun Blaze West?
Permalink Reply by Arjun Arora on August 1, 2011 at 8:24pm hey harris i gotta new question for you. I have been recently been watching this new series yuruyuri (yes i know your thang about shojou) but i was like " i got 3 mins lets see where this goes." It starts out with the typical " hello my name is blank i am an energetic girl" crap but then it started to get kinda amusing in a stupid sort of way. You would see the girls in the show interact in such a stereotypical way for a yuri. Then it dawned on me that it was a complete parody of every yuri trope out there. If you go in with that mindset its pretty funny. So i was wondering, have you had anything where the first time you were like "this is shitty" but then come to realize its just a light hearted parody?

Are most of anime charecters white people? I'm pretty sure that Speed Racer was intentionally meant to be about white people, but I have always just kind of assumed that everyone in DBZ, Sailor Moon, etc. were all Japanese. However, after several years of observation, in which I noticed that Japanese people either cannot shoot laser beams out of their hands, or at least not in public, I've also begun to notice that most anime shows have, and even frequently feauture a protagonists with very non-asian charecteristics, like yellow and red hair (while japanese people's hair can only be either black or dark black) unappealing pasty white skin, and are usually kind of stupid. So basically, white people. Do the makers of these shows mistakenly believe that white people are cool in some way? That would be very silly, even by their societies standards, and that says a lot, considering that everyone in Japan has a talking animal sidekick, and all of the women are school girls, forever.
Thanks for probably not answering!
Stay beautiful.

I was wondering if you've ever seen the series "Baccano!" If you have not, it is essentially about a group of immortals in North America during the 1920s and 30s. The storytelling mechanics are very unique, and I love most- if not all- of the characters. It also has one of my favorite anime lines of all time in the form of, "Thank you, FUCK you, the villain has arrived!"
Also, if the series has already been discussed in a former LEOG, I sincerely apologize, as I have not listened to your most honorable podcast in quite some time and I am currently desperately trying to catch up. Thank you in advance.
Long Live the League,
Isaac

When ever mangakas are depicted in manga, they are always using pens and pencils. Do mangakas ever use tablets or computers for drawing, if not, Why?

But its story is really good and had my intrest peeked all the way through, youll wanna watch the whole thing straight through like i did i swear youll enjoy it, and it would be great to hear the Leuagues reaction to what its about if u decide to tell them.

Yo, I was just wondering if you heard of these two films called Paprika and Summer Wars. Not alot of my friends have heard of them and they're anime heads like myself. Its sad because both films are excedingly great. Paprika is kind of like an anime version of inception that came out before inception (2006 I believe). The animation is stunning and the music really plays along well with the story. Summer Wars is about a high school student who gets accused of hacking a virtual world/network. Its really cool and its from the guy who did The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which I dont know if you seen is a great film as well. The animation is awesome and its definitely worth checking out.
