If it's crap... We'll tell you

Okay, so coming back from my review of Boys Be, which was essentially a collection of one shots that is still going on, I commented that I was surprised that it was still going on despite the rest of the series ASSUMINGLY being a collection of one-shot manga. This time, I'm reviewing a one-volume story that has one big story and two short bonus stories. To me, if you're doing a short story, this should be how it can be done right. With that said, here's Voiceful by Seven Seas Entertainment. Yes, again from my favorite company. I am rather biased to their work so you can comment with other opinions.

Story

The main story is about a young girl named Kanae who is an extreme introvert and a fan of an internet singer known as Hina. After styling her hair to match hers, she accidently meets her idol and gives her strawberry daifuku, declaring that she loves her and dashes in embarassment. Hina, both feeling surprised and happy to the point of tears, she contacts Kanae and the two strike a friendship. It is during their time together that we learn what motives Hina as well as how Hina has influences Kanae's life

The extra stories are as follows. A short story about Hina, a little creepy (At least to me)story about two girls that go ice-skating and a singer and a music teacher who get locked in a classroom. However, it's the main story and the story about Hina that will get the most interest and emotional investment in you.

That being said....I really liked the story. I honestly felt for both of the main characters and I wanted to see what would happen in the end between them, and I was very satisfied with the ending. I even liked the extra stories, especially the music teacher one.

Art

ANother good thing is that the art is VERY good. The art style is shoujo and it's really well-done. The layout and the toning really heightens the emotions that are told. I personally like that the focus is on the characters and how they feel, and how that is shown through the layout and effects. This artist, simply known as nawoko, REALLY knows what to leave otu and what to emphasize, and that makes the book REALLY strong in the art department. I absolutely loved the artwork in this book

Final Thoughts:

I say that this book would rate around 7.5 for casual manga/shounen-manga fans and a 9 for romance/shoujo-ai/short story fans. I think I can speak for others when I say that I want to see more shoujo-ai stories. Not because of the growing popularity of yaoi, and not just because it's a romance between two girls, but becasue we would have more stories and scenarios, some which would be really pure and emotional like Voiceful.

So yeah, I recommend it.

Need help on how to write reviews, any tips? XD
