Hamilton Pool Preserve
For the Spillios planning on spending more than just the 3 Con days in Austin, I was considering organising a trip out to the Hamilton Pool Preserve, recognisable to many of us from films such as Teeth, Predators and The Tree Of Life.
UPDATE: Date confirmed as 14th of June, probably meeting up / heading to the pools around midday. Transportation and a meet up location will be organised in the weeks to come.
They're located about 23 miles (37kms for us metric folk) west of Austin, with a $10 Travis County Park entry fee. Transport to and from would have to be organised, but considering it's just an idea at this point we could work that out later. And considering Let's Do This used to start each week with "Boy, it's hot as hell up here!", I'm assuming it'll be good swimming weather.

I can't find the post that had all the info (times and such) anymore.... so I think thursday was just the pinball meetup so we could all go around three or four in the afternoon and spend a couple hours there and head back still have time to make the pinball thing :D

I think this is what you're looking for. As for the 14th, it's looking like the only thing that night is Pinballz and karaoke (I might not make the karaoke but Pinballz definitely for the games near the bottom) so that's a likely possibility. Honestly, I'm waiting on this to make my final choice in arranging the flight I'm taking so if it's the 14th or the 18th, it's fine by me; I just don't want to miss this.
I know Humungus was looking at a midday venture so everyone had plenty of time to get there and explore. So it'd be sometime in the afternoon, then?

Yeah midday for sure. We'll take snacks / drinks out there, chill out, dick around for a couple of hours, then head back. Maybe a week beforehand I might see if it's acceptable swimming weather also.

There is a hotline to call for swimming conditions. Currently, swimming is allowed. We have had good rain this year, but no flooding, and the swallows are not nesting right now, so it should stay that way for you guys until next week. Wish I could go. This is one of my favorite places in central Texas. Have fun yous guys!
