Instead of being a camera it should be like a first person movie or something, and it would revolve around 4 key characters in a non linear way who had something to do with the monster, and it had be the monster invading tokyo and having more of the same while giving out some details about the monster and keeping some questions unsolved. And this one should be rated R. Nasty gory first person action violence. Imagine that those parasites on the monster would later on grow and get a whole lot meaner and then you'd have yet again another army scene with those critters killing em all. Or maybe instead of just limiting to tokyo it could be in a lot of different places, something really like post apocalyptic and epic cause this second movie should have a way different sense of scale. You'd get to understand what really happens with the people that get infected and maybe they could become a sort of zombie creatures without it getting too stupid or over the top in a corny way. And at the end of the movie which could kinda like be the beginning you'd have this fight against the monster and it should be awesome unlike anything ever seen and unmatched in terms of level of destruction in a single movie. It should have a counter with all the buildings demolished, and the monster would kill em all and we should be rooting for it cause we kinda learn its intentions. It also would have to be in 3D and it would be called Resistance 2 (i kinda thought that the monsters looked like the aliens from Resistance).
I'm such a geek sometimes.

Yea still, just imagine that one of those characters gets infected. And imagine he explodes in first person mode. And then the audience kinda forgets about him. While the movie is going you get this feeling that in that storyline there's something after them. You dunno if it is the army searching for infected people, if it is just one of those monsters, you just dunno. It is the newest "what is that? what is it?" factor that made the first one good. And then this hybrid infected human with four eyes and all those tumors comes back to kill the rest of the characters. It could be all kinds of messed up. And I'm not talking about whole groups of zombies hitting walls and drooling on windows. You just get to see one. Or maybe if you get see more than one you'd see a whole military ward full of infected people isolated in some way and you'd see them explode almost at the same time. And you barely see it so it keeps kinda spooky and misterious. It's kinda like the destruction goes on in many forms. The Cloverfield monster in itself would be WWIII. So now there would be grown up parasites and infected people. I don't think they could make another movie just about the monster.

That Zombie Idea could work on a few different levels. Either the people that explode get reanimated (I do'nt know about you but a person cut off at the torso crawling around sounds awesome to me) or certain people are immune to the poison but mutate. Lots of potential there...

I would like a sequel that involves a news crew trying to figure out what the thing is. Those news reports that you saw on the TV in the electronics store is what they were filming, then when they decide to land their helicopter, they get attacked by the little monsters and have to find a away to the other news crew(since we saw two perspectives of the same event on the news channel). Then we could cut back and forth between the two camera crews as they try to get to one another while dodging creature attacks.

What would also be cool is if the sequel is not called Cloverfield 2, but another codename for these tapes.
