I just recently heard news that the new entry of the Eureka Seven series Astral Ocean is being acquired by Funimation Entertainment for home media and simulcast rights.

Now in my opinion, I'm actually excited for this considering the original predecessor Eureka Seven is one of my favorite anime series (or at least my favorite anime that has more than 26 episodes and doesn't drag itself) and I'm delighted to hear this news but Funimation is handling the NA rights?

Don't get me wrong. I do like most of Funimation's work and their dubs in the past but I just don't picture them together. I always pictured a company like Aniplex or Manga Entertainment handling those titles or at least taking some of Bandai's old titles and distributing them since they went under this year and the fact that they did do it with Gurren Lagann, which I had no idea that either them, Aniplex, or Bandai distributes it in the US. They are either under Manga Entertainment whenever I look for anime in the PSN and  their Youtube page has Gurren Lagann  but in the credits it always said, "English Adaptation by BANDAI ENTERTAINMENT & ANIPLEX".

Who knows? Maybe it could all work out and if they hired Bang Zoom to do the dubbing like in the last one, I'll be pleased.

So, what do you think of this....if you gave a damn about this?

It’s funny cuz if you brought up…the who’s dubbing what thing like 2 years ago It would be more fun just because you had variety back then but due to the lack of dubbing studios its hard for me to even care any more.

Manga entertainment are my No.1 as they seem to have some solid classics although they don’t release as often but funi on the other hand have been around for awhile and I feel have a kind of monopoly on the dubbing scene – but in saying that their dubs are usually good, it’s only that they dub so many titles it doesn’t really feel like they make any serious decisions…they just seem to pick the sure shot popular titles for dubbing.

As for E7…the original series was really great…the movie that followed was a rushed waste if you ask me and as for this new show…I’ve heard it’s a new story so who knows….but yeah really really liked the first show…quite a good love story for the younger teens imo.

I’m starting to care less and less about dubs as this whole dubbing crash escalates…more companys should just focus on releasing the subs…I feel the majourity of fans will adjust as theres already a niche cult following for anime…that may be an oxymoron lol
