Continuing from our last podcast this is the Legend of Korra episode and as stated last time we will start things off with the League of Extremely Ordinary Gentlemen’s discussion on Korra followed by our own.

Now to be honest with ya folks, our review on Korra is not the most positive one you’ll find out there….and it’s quite a LONG run-through. It surprised both myself and Nuansay that a show of only 12 episodes had so much elements to cipher through…..and OH BOY do we take it there.

Don’t worry LOK fanboy’s I already foresee the flame emails and comments which I welcome….well…to an extent

But just remember folks we can’t all be of the same mind….some people are gonna love stuff and some people are gonna be a bit more critical

And even though overall myself and Nuansay were extremely disappointed with LOK this podcast is not a flaming session and we do have quite a few positive things to say about the show….including some interesting production facts which may have been the source of our overall disappointment

I’ll add time codes for this episode…i'll bet some people will want them

LEOG’s Discussion on Korra: 00:01:07 - 00:21:07

Don & Nuansay’s LOK Review / Long Breakdown: 00:21:07 - 02:04:19

Final Thoughts on LOK & Production Issues: 02:04:20 - 02:26:44

Overall, I think Uberhikari did a much better job of pointing out alot of the things we felt where done badly in LOK......but now thats all over with me thinks that’s enough Amerime for two shows…let’s get back to the buziness of Anime stuffs

PeaceOut (hateonus-lol)

Yeah, I'm the guy that gave it a FIRST CLASS and yes, I was one that do think of the series as a continuation of the A:TLA but as much as I do like the series (and still do after hearing this), there were some points I agree with you like the overall ending of the season finale which seems if they were going to end it like that, they should have ended the series since it was originally a miniseries but it was a slippery cop-out of that last scene.

As for Bolin, I have to disagree with you on that considering I kinda felt sorry for the guy when that love triangle happen between him, Mako & Korra. He's no Sokka but what I'm saying I might sympathize with the guy.

Asami........you know the girl who voiced her is the same woman from the TLA movie with the outrageously stupid penis-shaped hairdo?

I like that it took more of a mature level that does speak for the people who grew up watching the A:TLA, who are now young adults, but it did go too far with that supposed suicide of Amon and Tarrlok.

Also, Amon is the one villain that I admit I will side with in some episodes (that and Steven Blum is too awesome for words). Most of the benders are practically dickheads, especially during the Pro Bending games and believe it, most of them deserve to lose their powers, especially Tarrlok. I fucking hated Tarrlok, that excuse of a dipshit.

But yeah, that's my overall response.

Wow you weren't kidding about not being the most positive review. I can't remember all of the criticisms you mentioned (over the two hours), but I do remember that they were valid. However I think I was enjoying the good aspects of the show so much I didn't give much thought to anything negative. This warrants a revisit sometime, but I doubt my opinion will change. A couple of things do I disagree with though:

1. Korra being too brutal and going too far fits her character. Her lack of restraint and self-control is the reason she struggled with air bending and is something she needs to learn. If she did show such qualities, she would be much closer to being a fully realised Avatar and that would leave no room for further character development. I think her Hulk-Smash-iness will feature more next season.

2. Korra's airbending being so powerful straight away did not surprise me at all because she is a child prodigy. She's tearing up the house when she's a kid using three elements, so given her natural talent and training since being discovered and the extreme situation she was in, that ass-kicking made sense.

On a side note - little pot-bellied Korra was adorable :)

Yeah, I was also disappointed by a lot of the things you guys touched on in this episode and I’m glad you guys didn’t go off into a flying rage or anything and stated your issues clearly.

I, myself did not hate Korra but was ultimately disappointed with peoples non-objectiveness with this show and I think a lot of things are forgiven since A:TLA was such a great series.

Also, good looks on the production information as I didn’t know things went down like that and also believe that probably had a big effect on the shows construction overall

Overall I enjoyed this episode and agree with almost everything you said….in some cases a few things I overlooked like Korras flashback serving little purpose in the grand scheme of things. Korra as a character I do like a lot and I think they will definiately fix a lot of these things throught the shows next books
