Cat Planet Cuties is one of those anime shows that makes me kind of ashamed to have liked the concept of fanservice. It makes me scratch my head and say "What the fuck is this?". But it is here, so let's see if this can pull something off and make my WTF positive instead of negative.

Nice guy Kio’s normal life gets turned upside down when he meets a friendly, sexy cat-alien named Eris. She’s on a peaceful mission—and she’s ready to play. Things get even friskier when her fellow felines set up base in Kio’s house. It’s not all fun and games, though. Danger is afoot, thanks to several secret agencies and enemy dog-aliens on Eris’s tail.

The story mentioned up there is all yo uare going to get. The story is non-sensical and doesn't have ANY twists that can't be seen from a mile away. It has a strange, almost cliffhanger-like ending which unfortunately doesn't satisfy. This 12 episode show also features A LOT of fanservice which comes from it's main heroines, Eris, Manami Kinjo, and Aoi Futaba. Just about every episode is FULL of this and it isn't used to good effect, it just feels forced.

The animation for this is good, but not great. The character models all look convincing and even the cat and dog people look just like cat and dogs mixed with human features, or is that the other way around? As this focuses A LOT on fanservice, you get a lot of fanservice moments, but these moments don't do anything for the story, just to get guys riled up(Not that it doesn't work, haha, just kidding). The voice acting is decent also. The standout in my opinion is Aaron Dismuke, who I haven't heard since the original FMA. He does well as Kio, really trying. The rest, Brittney Karbowski, Monical Rial, and more, do well, but they seem like they are not even trying. Sonny Strait feels out of place here, he plays a role I feels like would seem like it needed someone else. The music hits some good points, but nothing that will make people hum it afterwards. On a technical level, this is passable. Cat Planet Cuties is a passable series, it relies too much on fanservice and ignores story and characters just to get guy riled up, and makes you scratch your head in disbelief, there are better choices out there.

Pros:

  • Decent voice acting, especially from Aaron Dismuke.
  • Animation is good

Cons:

  • Sonny Strait feels completely out of place.
  • Inconsistent story.
  • Overreliance on fanservice.
  • Music doesn't fit.

Yup, that's fanservice and also this next picture describes the anime itself:

But, seriously, so far the other subplot is either which girl will end up with the stereotypical weenie boy and the girls are either the optimistic, cheery one; the shy girl who can fight; or the tsundere who has a love for guns. Yeah, what would you do.

Lol, I agree, if it wasn't for the fact that I have self-control, I would've been one of those bastards. BTW, I need to ask a question: Is my rating system readable?

Yes, it's readable.....and creative while using the numerical scores with some symbols.

Ugh, why did Funimation even bothered dubbing this?

For the money and sales, of course. What else?
