Yup, the NY B&V is on the move again for adventure and shenanigans!
Y'know every morning I get off the night shift from the hospital I'm reminded of how I fail at maximizing all the different things I can do in the city while I am still alive. At the conclusion of year 3, our only repeat will be NYCC. we've just scratched the surface of all the things we can do. So buckle up, strap on your thinking caps, and let your imagination run wild. It's time once again to be inspired....
Late Night Urban Bike Ride: I wanted to express a desire of changing the pace in the group. I want us to be more mobile. I always tell people, see NYC by foot...by car...by plane...and by bike. It changes your perspective constantly. A lot of celebrities and athletes in NYC have spontaneous tweets and/or posts "Show up at midnight and let's bike around the town." Most recently, JR Smith of the Knicks. I'm not a star struck fella. I just love to ride.

Rent a Cabin in the Woods such as Taughannock Falls State Park near Ithaca, NY: Come on, who doesn't want to rent "Cabin in the Woods."
If you ask me, horror is DEAD. It was dead the day, people started thinking up protocols and plans about what to do during a horror movie scenario...and over the decades that has been refined. As New Yorkers, we all know if any supernatural force is ever going to try some stupid shit..."it" is getting jumped, robbed, shot, cursed, trapped, and given the cement shoes.
This incorporates so many ideas: Board games, drinking games, outdoor fun...
The premiere of the Hobbit and Radegast Hall & Biergarden: I was thinking of making it "Viking night" since the Hobbit might be the one day where you can roam around the city in a "spear and magic helmet" and look completely normal. Wait, this is NYC. Takes a lot to look out of place.
Side note: Les Miserablesthat opens on the same weekend so keep that in the back of your mind.
NY Rangers Game: Believe it or not, NY is very much a hockey town. Much like our earlier outing for Mets/Yanks, Rangers playing NJ or Isles is an electric experience.
Ice Fishing: For those of us who want to be a simple Cave man. This is another one of those outdoor activities where we can talk each other's ears off as we're doing something.
I'll be updating/amending this thread from time to time after I awaken from the Odin sleep.

Permalink Reply by Dr. Detfink on July 9, 2012 at 2:53pm For anyone who missed out on Craftbar discussion, Rachel has proposed a 4 day extended weekend in Disneyworld October 2013 meet up.
Budget, cost, and details will be posted soon. I always use the rule of thumb, reserve 6 months from the target date. That would be May. Not to scare anyone but if I were a betting man, it'd cost $1000 for room and flight. Sounds like a lot. That's saving roughly $91 a month. and still having 6 months to save for disposable income.
Big commitment but 6 of us are interested and willing to put up the coin. NOW, if room and board is an issue...it would be to your advantage to attend some B&Vs and build a relationship with the people attending this event. Flights to Orlando are roughly $200-300.
Any questions please talk to Rachel or myself.
