"All aboard, NY B&V is taking another field trip!"

By the time Avengers in Atlantic City meet up is over, that will complete our 4th trip to "Joisey" not including a random .5 to see Ferris Bueller on a dark & stormy night in Jersey City. Time to go in a new direction. Philly with good traffic is 80.5 miles (129 kilo) roughly 2-2.5 hrs away (depending on traffic), which is almost equidistant to AC.

Since the movies in August can go in one way or another, I figure we could use one of those as a way to wrap a very cool itinerary around.

Now, comes the HARD part. Organizing every one's work or day to day schedule. We have people that work on weekends. People raising a family. People on a fixed income. But I've been doing this over 3 yrs and over 50 meet ups. I wouldn't attempt it if I didn't believe this group can come together, communicate needs and availability.

Mark down August. When in August is up to you. Since we will be meeting one way or another in the coming weeks, please...PLEASE don't hesitate to tell me what's going on. We have the capacity to make adjustments.

Don't wait till the night before and tell me your "Die-lemma" or the location of Professor Thoms. More than half the Brew Crew has smart phones. Google it. I am not your mother. For this reason, I ALWAYS plan these things months in advance for a reason.

But if you're willing to push the envelope...step up your game.

A few Suggestions or options to put on the table

The Standard Tap on 901 Second St: Good beer selection. Cozy atmosphere. Great food.

Race Street Cafe 208 Race St, part of Old City...it's location may deter some but I like unpretentious environments.

National Constitution Center: How can you go to Philly and not feel patriotic about our first Capitol of the country?

Eastern State Penitentiary: So many movies have been based off the history of the inmates from this building including Shawshank Redemption. In my profession, I work with rapists, killers, criminals, and thugs on a daily basis...and I like this concept of "rehabilitation" as it's gone on through the years to what prisons are defined as today.

The Mutter Museum: College of Physicians actually has tissue of Einstein's brain on slides. For anyone studying for their doctrine *hint* you must have an interest in seeing this.

Rocky Statue: I always assumed after Rocky IV that he would logically fight the Champion from the Marvel Universe (comic book nerds would know what I meant by that)...

Give me YOUR suggestions...open discussion. Be creative. Think out of the box. Got till August.Let's make this B&V one to remember.

Side Note: We all know that more than 70% of NY B&V is off-spill so make sure our brothers and sisters can at least hit the link to see what I am proposing.

Great idea

Nice one, G-man...may I ante' up the pot?

Bruce!

I've been meaning to go to Philly for some time, so I'm definitely down for a trip there.  Mid to late August will probably work best for me, and if there are any changes to my schedule, I'll be sure to update here.  I'll try to think of some other places we can visit while in the city, but what's listed above sounds good to me.

Late August looks more probable. Talked to Michael, he's going to Texas to visit family in August.
