NY B&V #31: Sunday July 8th Amazing Spider-man matinee & Brunch @ Craft bar

"Will the REAL Spider-man please step forward?"

Creators Stan Lee & Steve Ditko were onto something when they decided to create what I like to call, "a lunch pail" super hero. Peter Parker's day to day problems were so relatable to any one who had bills, paid rent, worked a job(s) with an abusive boss, and had relationship issues. As ASM writer Dan Slott said at the Midtown Comics book club on Sept 30, 2011, "Spider-man is all of us."

Race change is nothing new in the capes/cowls genre. Ask Brian Michael Bendis who created Miles Morales, second Ultimate Spider-man...While Iron Man, Green Lantern have changed race...it's Spider-man who is more interchangeable because he is so relatable.

Spider-man cartoon has been re-booted many more times than the live action movies. Still partial to the 1967 version.

Itinerary:

1140 AMC Kips Bay Theater 570 Second Ave matinee ($7)

1400 Brunch at Craftbar. Site & menu

You know I haven't been to a brew & view in awhile, I think this Spiderman Brew & View is perfect. I've missed seeing you guys on a monthly basis, but I'll be glad to see you all again very soon.

Count me in?!

Can't make it. Playoffs start on July 8th. Enjoy.

I figure this to be a very small meet up. Week of 4th is often where families hit the beach or travel. In my relationship, since Megan is British...they observe the 4th like we do Jubilee.

I treat July like buckshot...and so, I figure it won't be till September before I call in all the bannermen.

Hope its not too late, I am down for this t

Never too late.

Really looking forward to this one. And Craftbar sounds heavenly. I'm a little surprised that Kips Bay doesn't have a normal 3D screening of this.

Alright, Craftbar requires strict reservations as I could only get 2:15p (that is kind of cutting it close) or miss Brunch. I reserved table for 5. In the next 24-48 hrs you gotta tell me so I can make adjustments.

Should mention I am planning on going, so add a chair at brunch if possible!

Ok, I'll take care of it. :)

The incredible Mr. K brings the tally up to seventh heaven (though he'll be dining with us, the Queens native has to support his boy Spidey on Sat)....
