Every young man goes through a motorcycle love affair. Mine ended when as a college kid working in St. John Hospital ER as an aide, I saw a biker with a compound fracture with shredded muscle, bones sticking out, and man still alive and in obvious pain. 

Last time I intentionally wanted to be a selfish prick by setting up a meet up around comic book movie (Captain America), it pleasantly backfired in my face as a ridonkulous number of people showed up (officially 18). If Regal Cinema Union Square had not pooched the showtimes with technical difficulty and lack of line control our good buddies: David, UDamnDirtyApes, and ColinZero could have hung out with us after the movie for Fette Sau BBQ in Brooklyn. But look, you can't take up people's time all day in the city that never sleeps...

Therefore I am CAUTIOUSLY setting up this meet up around, thinking Ghost Rider is such a lesser known hero how big could it get?

The Orb was the volume 1 archnemesis for Ghost Rider. Yes, it's an ugly dude with a giant eye ball helmet. 

Speaking of Ghost Rider, let me tell you as a kid I was a huge Evel Knievel fan. In addition to putting baseball cards in my spokes, I had the cape action going, and I painted the streets with my skin over a lot of horribly failed bunny jumps. So the concept that some stunt dude gets cursed with a biker demon...I was like, "SIGN ME UP!" well the initial comic book series was pretty awful. I mean, his arc nemesis was the ORB...and it's a guy with a giant eye ball for a head on a bike. Then there was the Water Wizard *Sigh* musta been an off day at the offices of Marvel, "hey how about skids? Get it?"

The Champions of Los Angeles was to the West Coast Avengers, what the LA Clippers were to Sacramento Kings. Don't worry EVERY thing is recycled and expect Greg Pak to try and replicate this group again.

It would take almost 20 yrs after "Champions of Los Angeles" *double sigh* before someone was on the right track.

Over designed CGI is an automatic tell-tale sign that a super hero movie is going to suck harder than a Meat Packing District hermaphrodite with 2 dicks in his mouth. I present to you a bike that only Joel Schumacher could love with his erect bat nipples. 

I watched the first Ghost Rider film and it was about as much fun as stapling your testicle to your leg. Just the CGI alone with the Joel Schumacher bike was enough to make you beg for Compazine. It's so bad not even Red Letter Media will touch it...for now.

Neveldine & Taylor have elevated gorilla style camerawork and Grindhouse techniques into a kinetic cinematic artform that mixes Harold Lloyd with Jackie Chan and gun porn. It's not until months later you realize, "A limey named Chev Chelios?" More importantly, they understand the Ghost Rider source material VERY well. 

Thankfully, it's in the hands of the Crank boys, modern Grindhouse baristas of pain inducing flinging and kinetic shenanigans. At NYCC panel, I was VERY impressed with their comic book knowledge of Ghost Rider, right down to quoting ONE line from the Garth Ennis mini series, that wasn't even an important line. Btw it got only 3 claps for recognition. That goes to show you how f-ing unknowledeable comic cons have become. Filled with people who ask awful questions and sit there for jokes and entertainment.

Honda's line of Japanese bikes, specifically "the Ninja" made urban bikes popular again in the 90s. To no surprise, Marvel went with a new Ghost Rider, Dan Ketch...who much later on turned out to be Johnny Blaze's brother *GROAN* 

It sounds unbelievable but Ghost Rider has a simple story that is less complicated than his predecessor, the hulk. Man strikes a deal with the devil to save his only family...gets fucked over and cursed forever. The theme is about control/lack of control and how sometimes you have to do a little evil to do a lot of good.

Jason Aaron (Scalped) finally put together a semi-coherent run on Ghost Rider. He would have been better off scalping some past arcs that should remain untouched but I respected his boldness to complete a story. 

A movie about Ghost Rider should be marketed towards a jenteal audience that likes: horror + clubbing baby seals after setting them on fire + wearing dirty diapers and drinking out of a urinal...

Anyone who likes comic books, horror, and the Crank films.

Marvel used Fear Itself for a desperate bold move, a female Ghost Rider with NICE tits! This idea lasted roughly 4 issues. One of the few comic books that I never finished.
